Valley United Way Announces Funding Decisions
|
Valley United Way's Board of Directors has approved funding for community programs providing a wide variety of services in the Valley Area. The decisions follow a month of budget and program reviews conducted by volunteer members of the Allocations Committee who spent many hours examining agency requests and making on-site visits to evaluate programs in action.
This year's process was once again largely paperless as agencies submitted their request on-line. Volunteers were able to review the forms and make their recommendations on-line as well.
The Allocations Committee was chaired by Peter Galla of Naugatuck Savings Bank who praised the work of all of the committee members who devoted so much time and effort to the reviews.
In announcing the decisions, Board Chairman, Mike Marcinek said that it was a very difficult year as demand for services has been rising due to the difficult economy while it is an ever more difficult climate for fund raising. He noted that the St. Vincent DePaul Society would be receiving an allocation for the first time this year. "Valley United Way is pleased to be able to continue supporting so many worthwhile agencies and programs in the Valley area. Peter Galla and his entire Allocations Committee did a tremendous job with their review and the Board of Directors thanks them for their diligence and hard work."
