Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner Draws Large Crowd
Mike Marcinek Re-electedMore than 200 people were in attendance on a balmy spring evening for Valley United Way's 41st Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner held at John J. Sullivan's in Ansonia on Tuesday. It was a festive evening in which United Way elected its members, board of directors and officers for the upcoming year. Check out the full story by clicking here. Mike Marcinek (pictured left) who was re-elected as Chair of the Board of Directors served as master of ceremonies.
Dave Grant, Chairman of the Annual Community Campaign announced the campaign projection and presented numerous awards.
Fred Ortoli was presented with the Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award and was also presented a proclamation from the State Legislature by State Representative Jason Perillo. The Valley Community Foundation also presentd him with a $500 grant in honor of the award which he generously designated to Valley United Way.

Students Return From the Woods and Tell Their Story
Youth Leadership 2009
The newly selected members of Valley United Way's Youth Leadership Program began their year with a weekend retreat at Camp Jewell in Colebrook, and they have written about the experience on the web. United Way Distributing Prescription Drug Discount Cards
Corporate Cup MastheadValley United Way is pleased to have joined with familywize Community Service Partnership to help promote and distribute free discount prescription drug cards. In these difficult economic times, the cards can help reduce the costs of medications not already covered by health insurance. Many Valley pharmacies participate in this national program, and you can find the full listing on the United Way website by clicking here. The cards are absolutely free and may be requested by calling Valley United Way (203 926-9478).














Letter Carrriers' Food Drive May 9
Corporate Cup MastheadOnce again Valley United Way and members of its Youth Leadership Program will be assisting Valley Letter Carriers with the 17th Annual NALC National Food Drive. The theme this year is "Stamp Out Hunger" and you can help by leaving nonperishable food items next to your mailbox for Letter Carriers to pick up when they deliver your mail on Saturday, May 9.

2009 - PerkinElmer still in the lead

PerkinElmer seems determined to defend their Corporate Cup title as they continue to pile up wins in this year's event. You can read about their latest win in the first ever Corporate Cup Wiffle Ball Tournament on the Cup website.
Next up in the series is the Mini-Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 6 at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton.

Valley United Way's Volunteer Center will sponsor its Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony at John J. Sullivan's in Ansonia on May 5, and we will announce the winners on the United Way website that evening.
