Back-to-School Picnic

Picnic Postcard Image

Join us on the fields at the Upper School for fellowship and fireworks!  The AACS Back-to-School Picnic is scheduled for August 20, beginning at 6:30 pm.  In true "dog days of summer" casualness, the picnic is a great way to meet other families, learn about the school, and talk about the upcoming school year.  It's also an opportunity to chat with teachers and put faces to names of folks that you have communicated with through email all year long.   So, please join us and br ing your neighbor, a picnic basket meal (and beverages for your family), your lawn chairs and blankets. (No grills, please!).  A  fireworks display is planned for approximately 8:25 pm.  You won't want to miss it!

AACS Student Leadership Summit

Calling all student leaders!  AACS is hosting a Student Leadership Summit at the Upper School on August 8, 15, and 22.  The summit is being conducted by AACS alumna Noelle Modly, '07, who recently graduated from Mary Washington University with a degree in Leadership.  Modly has a passion for equipping student leaders to serve the Lord and their school community.  Along with several faculty sponsors of AACS' Student Leadership, Ms. Modly will help students assess their own personal leadership strengths, understand how effective leadership is tied to their walk with Christ, and prepare to effectively lead their peers in the upcoming school year.  This summit is not only designed for Student Council Officers or Prefects, but is also open to any student leader who - in his or her own sphere of influence - has a desire to lead effectively, to make a difference, and to impact their school culture positively.  Please contact Dean of Students Eric Hansen at ehansen@aacsonline.org if you have any questions about the Summit or student leadership in general.
