Merry Christmas from AACS Superintendent George Lawrence

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

The baby born in Bethlehem is our Wonderful Counselor who has given us His Word to be a lamp to our feet, and who has sent the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us.  The baby of Bethlehem is our Mighty God who knows the beginning and the end and who has all things, including the lumps, bumps and struggles of this fallen world, working in compliance with His perfect will.  The baby born in Bethlehem is our Everlasting Father who has loved us in spite of our unworthiness and who, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, has adopted us into His family.  And, the baby born in Bethlehem is the Prince of Peace who has promised to redeem His people and the whole fallen creation, and who now fills us with His peace that triumphs over all external situations.

May this Mighty God and Father grant all of us His Wisdom and Peace as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  And may the Holy Spirit bless us with the knowledge that our labors together at Annapolis Area Christian School have led the children entrusted to our care closer to our Lord.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas surrounded by the love of family and friends and immersed in the Joy of the Lord.

For Christ and His Kingdom,

George

UPPER SCHOOL
A Christmas CarolDrama Club Presents "A Christmas Carol"

On December 4, 2009, the Upper School was given an early Christmas gift.  Thirty-eight members of the AACS Drama Club brought Dickens "A Christmas Carol" to life as a one-act presentation during chapel.  This unique telling of the classic tale starred sophomore Carl Laible as Scrooge and featured a living, interactive "chorus" that used their bodies and voices to create scenery, props, and sound effects. The result was an engaging 35 minutes of theatre that invited the audience to enter into Scrooge's world with their imagination.

The Legacy of the Class of 2009
Signage Upper SchoolAs the members of the class of 2009 have embarked on new directions in their lives (college careers and the opportunity to explore their God-given gifts in pursuit of a professional vocation), it is fitting that they leave behind a class gift that signifies just that.  Earlier this month, new directional signs were installed on the Upper School campus, making it easier for visitors to the campus to locate parking and specific areas of interest such as the Kilby Athletic Center and the Kerr Center for the Arts.  The signs, a gift from the Class of 2009, reflect the stately and timeless architecture of our buildings in a clean-lined traditional approach of black and white.   Pictured here is Class of 2009 Activities Prefect Alex George.  Read More

The Story of the Birth of Jesus
Birth of Jesus

On Tuesday night, December 15, 2009, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders presented the musical Angels Aware, a unique and fresh retelling of the story of the birth of Jesus from the perspective of the angels when they found out that Jesus would go to earth as a baby.  Students' friends and families enjoyed performances by the 3rd grade chime choir, a ladies ensemble, a men's ensemble, and several soloists.  What a blessed way to ring in the Christmas season!

 Operation Christmas ChildOperation Christmas Child

Lower School children have joined the mission of Operation Christmas Child to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world.  As our hearts are filled with the love of Christ it is important to share a gift of love, hope, and faith to a needy child.  The students each filled a shoebox with toys, gifts, school supplies, and personal items. These shoeboxes will be shipped all over the world reaching an estimated 1.9 million children.  Over 125 boxes were collected at the Thanksgiving Chapel as children grew in their faith sharing God's love.

It's a bird, It's a plane.. No, it's the MAD SCIENTIST!

Mad ScientistMad Scientist 2Kids of all ages learned about the states of matter from a special guest at the Lower School, The Mad Scientist, Dr. Baynes.  The Mad scientist used common things like cans of soda, candles, propane gas and dry ice to show amazing science experiments.  Everyone was on the edge of their seat while they learned about solids, liquids and gases in a really fun way.  As a result of the number of magazine subscriptions sold in September, we were able to enjoy Dr. Baynes' dramatic demonstration.  Read More
