AACS Fall Sports: History In the Making
25-Year History of Varsity Athletic Competition Meets Its Most Successful Fall Season
Following Suit, Middle School Sports Do Not Disappoint!
The Varsity Eagles completed the most successful fall season in the Upper School's twenty five year history of varsity competition, winning a regular season championship in field hockey and conference championships in girls and boys soccer and football. The three conference championships in one season are the most since the school began competition in their respective leagues; the MIAA for the boys and the IAAM for the girls. "The true measure of success in Annapolis Area Christian School athletics is that our student athletes have played as well as they can, with the skills and talents that our Lord has blessed them and that they honor Him in their play," said AACS Athletic Director, Joe Palumbo. "God has blessed our student athletes abundantly and the fall season's final results prove it," he added. Read More. Tennis Anyone?
Someone anonymous once said... "Life is like a game of tennis; the player who serves well seldom loses".
Funded entirely by the Tosé family, this spring AACS will dedicate and open a new tennis complex that will include five lighted tennis courts, a backboard practice wall, a windscreen, and perimeter fencing. When the project is complete, AACS will be the only independent school in the county with tennis courts on property. In what still remains a troubled economy, bold acts of kindness like this send a positive, courageous, and faithful message in advancing the programs of the school and the future for students. AACS is appreciative of our faithful donor support. Read More

Middle School
On the Road to Leadership The 8th Grade team wrapped up the first marking period at a retreat held at Camp Wabanna. The focus of the retreat was to further evaluate and explore their leadership development. The teams rotated through activities that highlighted team building, serving as role models, forming identities, and accepting others' unique gifts. A capstone to the retreat's event was the PEACE program's core values as it related to leadership development. It brought to light some areas with which the 8th graders need to develop, and identified existing strengths on the team. Read More

Rising to the Occasion and Raising the Bar...6th Graders Demonstrate They Are Up To It.
We all know that giving thanks can take on many forms. AACS 6th graders showed just exactly how through a creative demonstration as they led middle school chapel on Thursday, November 5th. In expressing their thankfulness for all God has given them, these students provided the worship, presented testimonies, read scripture, created art, and danced... For AACS, this was the first time that sixth graders have ever led chapel, and through much wisdom and maturity, they raised the bar for those coming in after them. Read More

Veterans -- Setting the Example Through Sacrifice
The Lower School proudly saluted more than 20 veterans representing all five branches of the military. Audience members were honored with words of inspiration by Navy Commander Greg Spangler, father of a 1st grader. With 30 years of service and much wisdom, Commander Spangler's remarks reminded us that while service involves a lot of sacrifice, it is not ALL sacrifice because when we make sacrifices for others, God blesses us. "Service is giving of yourself without expecting anything, including thanks, in return," said Commander Spangler. Read More
It's all in the Pellets (Reading, Science and... Art)
After reading Farley Mowat's entertaining novel, Owls in the Family, based on his own childhood, AACS fourth graders dissected owl pellets. You might ask what is an owl pellet? For those unfamiliar with the term, and to quote directly from the book, "When owls catch something, they eat the whole thing - bones and fur and all. Then, after a while, they burp and spit out a ball of hair and bones. That's an owl pellet." Everyone quickly got over the "yuck factor" and thoroughly enjoyed finding, sorting, and identifying the small bones inside the pellets. Read More.

Mrs. DeRoo attended a 6-session graduate-level presentation on Differentiated Instruction given by Dr. E. Penney Clawson. "Meeting with others also makes me realize once again, how exciting it is to come home to a place like AACS. Our size alone makes us stand out among most Christian schools, affording us the resources to provide a well-rounded program for our students. Our committed teachers embrace the challenge and the responsibility to do it well," said Mrs. Pavlischeck. Read More | |
