September 18th: Half the Sky Screening
at the San Francisco Public LIbrary |

Join us for a 40 minute screening of the maternal mortality portion of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. Suellen Miller will be part of a panel discussion after the screening.
Free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:15pm at the San Francisco Public Library.

Cluster Trial Ends Data Collection
 Our cluster randomized control trial in Zambia and Zimbabwe officially closed data collection in August. We are eager to now move on to the next step of analyzing the data. We expect the official results to be public in early 2013. Check our trial status here for future posts on our findings. .
The enthusiastic staff at all control clinics have now been trained to use the anti-shock garment and have this useful tool on hand for future use.

Safe Motherhood Team Presents at the
XX Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) World Congress in October
Dr. Suellen Miller, Elizabeth Butrick and international collaborators will disseminate the very latest information on the NASG! There will be seven NASG presentations in the free communication sessions in addition to a panel presentation entitled The Role of Anti-Shock Garments in the Management of Hypovolemic Shock in Obstetric Hemorrhage. The panel presentation will report on different shock garments in Egypt, Nigeria, Nepal, Zambia and Zimbabwe. All presentations will take place throughout the day on Monday October 8th.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces at FIGO and in our sessions!

We are thrilled that the NASG is now included in the Global Library of Women's Medicine updated Postpartum Hemorrhage Guidelines! GLOWM provides important up-to-date medical tools for health professionals - always free with universal access. These guidelines will soon be available on the Safer Motherhood GLOWM page and are being released in conjunction with the upcoming FIGO Congress this October.
