It's Still Winter
Springtime is coming, which is why we want to keep our Pilates bodies powerful and strong. From snow shoveling, to walking on uneven icy surfaces, core balance and strength are vital.
Slipping on the ice or "wrenching your back out" during the recent and future snowstorms can lead to a miserable springtime. Tighten those abs when walking on ice. Engage those core muscles while correctly positioning your body during snow shoveling by squatting and bending at your knees, not your back. Most important of all, before engaging in winter activities on the ice and snow take a deep breathe and make movements slower and more precise.
Pilates is a wonderful tool to practice preventative health care and to increase functional ability. So tighten those abs, engage your core muscles, and have fun playing in winter activities while looking forward to springtime.

Don's Vegetable Pie

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 c. Nita Crisp spelt crackers
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 9'' pie pan
- 1 small chopped red onion
- 1/2 c. shredded carrots
- 1 c. Broccoli chopped
- 1 c. Cauliflower chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. yellow mustard seasoning
- 1/4 tsp. sea salt
- 3/4 tsp. fresh black pepper
- 1 1/2 c. shredded Gouda cheese
Directions: Set oven to bake at 350 degrees. Crush crackers and mix with olive oil in a medium bowl. Empty cracker mixture into pan and line bottom of pan completely. Mix onion and carrots together and place mixture in pie dish. (zucchini can be substituted or added if desired) Beat the 2 eggs and mix in yellow mustard seasoning for about 30 seconds, or until completely mixed. Pour egg mixture evenly over vegetables. Cover entire pie with shredded Gouda cheese. Bake at 350 for 40 Minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool for about 5 minutes. Yummy!
