Step into Wellness with TARANA - A Grand Success!
On April 28, 2012, ASHA International presented a fundraising Bollywood music concert Step into Wellness with TARANA in Beaverton, Oregon. It was a SOLD-OUT event with 800 friends and families enjoying the music and food of India.
All of us at ASHA International are deeply grateful to the Stars of the evening - the TARANITES - for their passion and commitment to make a difference in our community through music. The TARANITES are a group of engineers, doctors and social entrepreneurs who volunteer their time and talent to raise awareness and funds for deserving nonprofit organizations. Thanks also to our exuberant emcee Prashant Kakad for inspiring us to get up and dance.
Thanks to our many sponsors for their generosity in making the event possible. And, thanks to our donors and dedicated volunteers for making the event a resounding success!
Together, we were successful in promoting awareness about ASHA International and its work in the global community, and raising $10,000 to support ASHA International's signature campaign Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives.

John's Story
Are black men less likely to seek help for mental illness? Are they even willing to acknowledge that they may have a problem?
Journalist and author John Head has seen this problem from the inside and out. For more than 20 years, he worked as a health reporter for the Detroit Free Press and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. But his own personal experiences led him to write Standing in the Shadows: Understanding and Overcoming Depression in Black Men.
