AGM Report

TOSCOT held it's Annual General Meeting on May 25th at the Airport Hilton Hotel. The meeting included a presentation from Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA) President, Jim Quick outlining the CPCA's proposal to merge TOSCOT into the CPCA. Quick's presentation (Available HERE) was the second of two proposal made to TOSCOT. In early April, Mike Miller of the Oil Colour and Chemists' Association (OCCA) outlined a plan to have TOSCOT join the Canadian division of OCCA.
Under the plan outlined by Quick, the TOSCOT Board of Directors would become one of the CPCA's Technical Committees with the same mandate it has now to deliver and develop technical education for the paint and coatings industry. Membership fees and structure would remain unchanged, although Quick said he envisions that the CPCA corporate members would likely have the TOSCOT membership fees of their employees waived. In response to a question from a member, Quick said that the plan for TOSCOT's reserve funds would be to use them solely for program upgrades and improvements as originally intended.
TOSCOT President, Dave Saucier, put forward a successful motion at the meeting to enter into merger discussions with the interested parties with the goal of having a proposal for membership to vote on by the fall.
Also at the meeting, TOSCOT elected its' new Board of Directors for the 2009/2010 Fiscal Year: Dave Saucier, Unipex Solutions, President/Chair; Christina Pross, Industrial Colors and Chemicals, Director/Treasurer; Jason Young, Dempsey Corporation, Director; Jake Jevric, LV Lomas, Director; Gerry Gomez, Charles Tennant, Director/Education.
