Greetings!
 One of the most exciting features of my chosen field of cosmetic dermatology is its immediacy, the sense that it is still evolving and the importance of staying in the forefront. Witness the article that just appeared in the NEW YORK TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE the first weekend in March. The article discusses our proven approach to achieving a more youthful appearance--an office procedure they call the "liquid" facelift but that we have referred to for at least the past two years as a "mid-face" correction or the "new, new face." "They (the liquid facelifts) have become extremely popular not only because they don't involve surgery and are relatively less expensive," the author writes, "but also because they're based on a newer understanding of the way the face ages, which focuses on a loss of volume rather than a slackening of the skin." The New York plastic surgeon (Yan Trokel, MD) who developed a technique of mid-face correction he calls the "Y-lift," and who was interviewed for the article says: "Aging is a process of losing volume, not gravity. A recent study to be published in PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCE and conducted at the University of Wisconsin showed a subtle connection between facial expression and negative feelings.
