CORRECTION: The correct name is STACEY Lawson, not Sherry Lawson. I don't know how that name got in my head, but it did, and it was wrong! Mea culpa, everyone! My apologies for the mistake. I work without a net. 2nd CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT WATCH OUT! DOUG BOXER FRONTS HIS CASINO-FRIENDLY CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS!
ROHNERT PARK, PETALUMA AND ALL 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT VOTERS, WATCH OUT! STC101 has learned from reliable sources that Doug Boxer, who tried his best to get a casino built near Highway 37, is backing San Rafael businesswoman Stacey Lawson as a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Rohnert Park, Petaluma, and areas adjacent to the Graton Rancheria casino site. Boxer's plan? To get Lawson in Congress to help the Graton Rancheria and Station Casinos, and get back at all of us for stopping Doug's Highway 37 deal from going forward. Evidently, it's payback time. Boxer, who made a reported $8 million in legal fees from the abortive casino attempt, has brought on board the usual suspects to support Lawson, including former head of Friends of the FIGR Susan Moore, who for years lobbied wherever and whenever she could to get the casino going, and Friends financial backer Connie Codding, who seems hell-bent on having a Class III casino in the family-friendly town of Rohnert Park. The plan is that the FIGR will stay in the background for now, but once Lawson gets on the ballot, the tribe will start throwing Station Casinos' money at her, get THEIR candidate in Washington, and it will be smooth sailing from that point on for the Graton Rancheria, who may someday want to build on the 352 acres they own south of Petaluma near Highway 37. Like other casino towns, Rohnert Park residents have seen first-hand how casino money can control the political process. And this is what casino developers do: spend lots of money to get their candidates elected so that things will go their way. So don't be fooled: Stacey Lawson is the FIGR's candidate of choice. A vote for Lawson is a vote for the casino and the beginning of casino money controlling our political process. Just say no to Stacey Lawson and out of state casino money!
