What's good? Hope all is well and thank you for joining Urban Culture Magazine. This is ya girl Kalei, Co-owner|Editor in Chief! (I'm a TITLE hog!) haaaaa! Biggups to Will, co-owner (hit him up for UC Radio & Video)! Time flies by when you're in action, it's already the last quarter of 2009. Through these hard economic times, tread fast and have faith in your ideas, your actions and the people you surround yourself with. Try something new: Listen more.Talk less.Stop skimming.Think out the box.Take a different route.Conquer with confidence...what's the worst that can happen?hmmmm..it might actually work!
~Nothing will work unless you do.

{ ABOUT } As an incubator of fashion, MAGIC is where new
trends surface and develop into what will be seen on the consumer. The
show's goal is to connect and inspire the fashion community, fuse
diverse trends, while offering unbeatable service to its customers.
{HIGHLIGHTS} Twice a year MAGIC Convention fills the Las Vegas area with over 60,000+ fashionistas discovering who and what is going to be the next trend of fashion. Who's who in the apparel industry show up for this 3-day event. In previous years, this was the most anticipated event you'd be lucky to get in to and catch all the Hip Hop celebrities breakthrough their new clothing lines and of course.....After parties wit' tha big dawgs! Who would dare miss the many "off the chain" performances at the old Beach Nightclub or skimp out on bottles of Cristal at The Bank.
{ TODAY} MAGIC Convention is still an experience and bread n butter for many (if not all) attendees and vendors! The atmosphere was very much "down to business", not as fun as I experienced in the past (2006) but much has changed since then. Retailers are buying the "practical" and "safe" purchase while up-n-coming designers are definitely trendsetting a more vibrant and creative look incorporating street art on silk screen.
{VEGASTYLE} UCM spotted many Vegas representatives. Lana Fuchs showed off her contributions to pop fashion with her new look of Billionaire Mafia. UCM was fortunate enough to attend the opening of Billionaire Mafia with E-40. Her edgy grenade pendants, gun-barrel "spinning" rings, double-edge razor charms and gas-masked mannequins with beaded-laced gowns is hardly what appeared at MAGIC this year! Her diverse style is definitely on the cutting edge of fashion....and not to mention..she always brings out the heavy hitters. This year, she invited Mr. Busta Bus himself to promote Billionaire Mafia. Check out Billionaire Mafia's newest collection at: BillionaireMafia.com. UCM caught up with Big Mook, owner of HeadHunterz Barber Shop (located at 8545 S. Eastern Ste#102 in Vegas) as he was cuttin' up for Frank's Barbershop of NYC as they featured their apparel and magazine. Of course, we couldn't forget bumping into DJ Omar Star of 88.1 KCEP and Paul Wall & TV Johnny promoting Paul Wall's new clothing line.
This MAGIC Convention was quite an experience. Even with the economic unpredictability, music through art through fashion was the #1 creation for this year's ambiance. From the Studio booths to the extravagant spread of Ed Hardy & Christian Audigier, there were definitely a wide selection of style in fashion. I look forward to checking out February 2010. www.magiconline.com
