There is something quite wonderfully casual
about Summer, and there is nothing more rewarding than enjoying every moment of
it, whilst relaxing on holiday, with no meetings scheduled, no phone calls to
answer, no pressing deadlines....
It is an amazing contrast with the crazy rush
of everyday life, that draws you in more and more, and even if you try really
hard, there is very little you can do to slow things down a bit and keep afloat
when you are literally submerged
with things to do.
So, as you can imagine, I have thoroughly
enjoyed the simplicity and calm of this Summer holiday. I have tried to absorb
every single sun ray, I have enjoyed every drop of sea water, every little grain
of sand, seashell found on the beach and walk along the seashore that I possibly
could.
The absolutely best part of this family break,
though, has been spending quality
time with Alistair and the kids and to see special relatives and friends, whom
we always knew were fabulous, but we simply did not manage to see enough of on
a more regular basis...
And now we are back to reality, with a desk
full of sketches, emails flowing in and the kids still in holiday mode and not
quite ready for school yet.
Are Alistair and I ready to take on the huge amount of work waiting for us... Well,
of course, Alistair always is... Whilst for me, I am trying my best to- even if the only way I seem able to
concentrate for more than five minutes is to pretend I cut a little space in an
imaginary continued holiday, with the office mentally on a remote island in the
middle of nowhere, surrounded by bright colours and shimmering lights!
