Welcome to Stellina Baby's Newsletter!

May 2010

Spring is in bloom and our office has been buzzing with activity - product samples have been flocking through day by day, our revamped website is up and running, our new images have been loaded and new product is now available for sale.

We are introducing a number of new products in the next few months, so do not forget to have a quick peep at Stellina Baby regularly, as the new products are NOT to be missed!

Mirtillo Cashmere DungareesWe start this month with the Mirtillo, a gorgeously vintage inspired, dungarees style playsuit. The 100% Cashmere outer and 100% cotton inner make it perfect for newborns: it has two contrast straps, a fixed bow at the waist and a buttoned leg opening. The Jasmine coloured cashmere is offset by a delicately contrasting aquamarine trim, reminiscent of the
delicate contrasts used in 1950's baby clothes.

Next is the Ciliegia, a round neck, buttoned cardigan to match the Mirtillo (fruity sweeties are the inspiration here!), all made of 100% Cashmere, with little stars scattered across the shoulders and back. This is such a gorgeous piece, perfect for a little boy or a little girlCillegia Cashmere Cardigan
I am particularly fond of the Ciliegia, as the very first pieces I ever designed for Stellina Baby were starry jumpers, blankets, blankies. Everything had a star somewhere - taken, of course, from our logo and from the company name, Stellina for Little Star!

Sadly, though, despite numerous attempts to get it right, our first intarsia items were not quite so perfect and we were forced, in the end, to forget about the starry inspiration for a while...

I smile when I think that difficult things take a long time and impossible things a little longer...they most definitely did on this little project!

Whoever thought that we didn't like a challenge, was, ehm, proved wrong and, trial after trial, sample after sample after sample, our super-factory managed to take our little dream a little step further, and here we are with this superstar-ry Ciliegia!
Hooray!

The other drGoccia Cashmere Pram Coateam I had for a while, intarsia aside, was that of being able to come up with the perfect 'ensemble' for a baby girl... something that would be gorgeous, elegant, beautifully made, but also innocently childlike.

The Goccia is a contemporary take on the classic pram coat, it is made in oh, so fashionable, grey 100% pure Italian cashmere, with a soft rose lining cashmere interior.

Perla Cashmere Pocket Dress
The Perla follows suit, with a simple, yet charming design. Beautifully knitted  in 100% Cashmere outer, 100% Cotton inner, the lovely contrast pockets and sleeve trim makes this the perfect dress to enjoy day after day, whether for a special occasion or for a walk in the park!
Why not???

More Top Tips for Cashmere:

Many of you have written to let me know that they really enjoyed the little 'Cashmere care' information at the end of each newsletter... so here are a few more tips for you about storing your cashmere.

·  It is always good to store cashmere in a sealed bag when not in use. This way, you ensure that no insects will be attracted by the gorgeous Italian yarn and decide to attack it.

·  Clean cashmere and store it straight away - insects and the dreaded moths love dirty cashmere!

·  Cedar Wood moth repellents or (Italians say) bay leaves will keep the moths at bay.

·  Do not store cashmere jumpers by hanging them on coat hangers - the shoulders of the garments will start losing their shape. Simply fold them and store them in a sealed bag (for mine and the kids', I have a selection of cotton zipped 'dust bags, and they work wonders!).

Good cashmere care will ensure that your garments last longer, look great and remain as beautiful as the day they were bought!

Until next time,
Happy Stellina Baby shopping!
