Spartanburg County Foundation to present at Regional Learning Forum

More and more, community foundations are called upon to serve as a catalyzing force in their communities, by uniting people, institutions and resources to produce significant and lasting results.   For many years, The Spartanburg County Foundation has endeavored to provide such leadership to our community by building capacity, fostering strategic connections, providing knowledge and information, convening diverse voices, leveraging resources, and promoting philanthropy.

The Foundation partners with many local organizations, as well as the city and county government, on several different initiatives that seek to bring about a brighter future for the citizens of the Spartanburg County area.  Many of these leadership efforts, such as the Spartanburg Community Indicators Project and the Grassroots Leadership Development Institute, are now seen as best practices in the field of philanthropy.  In recognition of this, Mary Thomas, Executive Vice President and Jennifer Evins, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, have been asked to present the Foundation's leadership work at The Council on Foundation's Regional Learning Forum on May 21, 2010 in Boston, MA.  This forum will be attended by staff and board members representing 53 community foundations across the Northeast.
