Your business or organization can show their support for HSOY this holiday season

The Humane Society of Yuma has met with a lot of success with spreading the message across Yuma on responsible pet care and bringing awareness to the community of pet over-population and cruelty.  In Paw Prints (our semi-annual newsletter) on our website,  in ePaws (our weekly e-newsletter), and on our bi-weekly radio program "All Things Pets," which airs on Saturday mornings from 11am -12pm on KBLU 560.

But to keep the line of communications clear, we need businesses, organizations and individuals to take advantage of some of our sponsorship opportunities and packages.

We have some great ways to show your support for the Humane Society of Yuma this holiday season and increase your visibility in the community as well.

SUCCESS STORY
HSOY Foster Failure come to the aid of the U.S. Forestry Service

Foxie, HSOY Foster Failure
Foxie, an HSOY foster program failure, was pressed into service in the fight against wildfires

Foxie, a two year old Australian cattle dog, and her "sister" Kip, a nine year old lab mix, were pressed into service helping fire fighters from the US Forest Service. In late June, a lighting strike started the Little Lewis forest fire near a church camp in Sacramento, New Mexico where her foster parents were volunteering as United Methodist NOMAD missionaries.

The fire quickly spread and the camp with 150 campers was evacuated. Two days later, after the fire burned within 50 yards of the camp, Foxie returned to the camp that now served as a base camp for firefighters. Every morning before the firefighters left and evening when they returned, Foxie and Kip would greet and play with the crews giving them much need relaxation. It was a busy job as 280 firefighters were now based and fed at the camp. Five weeks later, as the last crew prepared to leave, there was a knock on the RV door as the final crew came to say goodbye to the dogs.

Editor's note:  Foxie and Kip are both foster failures and are living permanently with their foster parents turned adoptive parents, Gary and Kathy Woelm.  Many thanks to Foxie and Kip for their admirable service and to Gary for contributing this story.

FEATURED PET
Papi
Papi

A family brought Papi, a two year old male chihuahua,  to us in late October after finding him on the streets of Yuma. Having been with us for over a month, Papi has been inducted into our Lonely Hearts Club and has had his adoption fee lowered to $55.  Papi has a king-size heart wrapped up in a fun-size body.  With nothing but love for people and kids, and always has a happy tail!  So remember, if you're looking for something sweet, whether it be fun-sized or king-sized, the Humane Society always has an amazing selection of adoptable pets in stock with more arriving daily.
FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND MILITARY PERSONNEL

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the CFC, which was created by an executive order issued by President Kennedy in 1961.  Today, the CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations throughout the world.
