CRUELTY
Emaciated pit bull abandoned at shelter euthanized.

Animal control is seeking information regarding an emaciated white and brown pit bull  that was abandoned at the Humane Society of Yuma shelter during the early morning hours of Monday, November 14.  In addition to being severely emaciated, the dog had a large tumor protruding from its hindquarters.

Given the severity of the dog's condition, the decision was made to euthanize the dog for humane reasons.

The dog was discovered by staff around 6 a.m. but was not seen by a staff member arriving at 5 a.m.  This could have been due to heavy fog and darkness.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call animal control at (928) 782-1621 ext. 106.  You may remain anonymous if you wish.

SENIOR PET
Martini
Martini

Look at that purrdy boy! This is Martini, a rag doll cat with a gorgeous lion cut. Martini has stunning blue eyes and a personality of gold. Martini's family was moving and he was left in our care with hopes of finding a new family. Martini is eight years old and is our Senior Pet. His adoption fee is only $25.00. Martini is absolutely purr-fect in every way. He is loving, and is strikingly beautiful with his long fur coat or with his new fancy haircut. Martini shared a home with two small dogs, and he likes children. Adopt a senior pet today they still have many loving years ahead of them to share with you!
SUCCESS STORY
Eva brightens a life

Eva

"I've had my awesome dog, Eva, for three weeks now. She's everything a dog should be and more: potty-trained (yay for me!), loyal, quiet, loving, generous, and friendly. Nicole helped me adopt her and was wonderful. Thank you so much for helping me create such a wonderful relationship! I already can't imagine life differently. We jog together in the mornings, watch movies at night, and sleep on our (respective) sides of the bed. Thank you Humane Society of Yuma for brightening mine and Eva's life!"

FEATURED PET
Sunny
Sunny

Meet Sunny, who also operates under the alias,  "The"White Dog of Sun Vista R.V Park." Sunny is two year old (or so) shepherd / husky mix and is a very sweet boy. Residents of Sun Vista had been spotting a white dog and had earned several names around the park. He became a regular,  as well as making many friends and play pals. Sunny was very thin and was eating out of the trash to survive until many animal lovers in the park started to leave food out for him he started to see that people are a good thing!  Park residents tell us that Sunny loves playing with small children, dogs and cats. Some of the names he was known as at the park were Freckles, Lonesome, Big Ears, White Dog and also Puppers. Although the name Sunny seemed to fit perfect for him, and will always reminding him of his original home Sunny was brought to our shelter on November, 02 and since then has been gaining his confidence. Sunny would make a great friend for someone with patience and plenty of love to give him. Sunny is gentle, he wants to learn to be part of a family.  He is very intelligent and wants to be someone best friend. Sunny just needs to know he can trust and that a bond between pets and people can be amazing.

LONELY HEARTS CLUB
Nala
Nala

This pint-sized handful of prettiness is Nala. Nala is 6.7 lbs. of sweetness, she is possibly a Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix and just loves laying in her little bed. Nala was found on November 8th by a caring citizen who brought her into our shelter with hopes of reuniting her with her owners. Unfortunately, that never happened and she is now available for adoption and in search of a cozy, loving home with fluffy bed her size. Nala is adorable and very gentle. She would make a great companion for a family or just as one person's best friend. Nala is just over a year old and has been spayed, micro chipped and is also current with her vaccines including her rabies shot. All she needs now is a place to call home!

GIVE A PET THE GOLDEN YEARS THEY DESERVE
November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month

This is going to be the easiest thing we've ever asked you to do!

Over the last few years, HSOY has raised over $3,000 just from supporters doing what they'd normally be doing online: searching and shopping.

How we've been able to do that is with GoodShop.com and GoodSearch.com.

GoodShop.com works with more than 2,500 stores (including Target, Apple, Petsmart etc..) and every time you purchase something, a percentage will be donated to us to help Yuma's homeless pets. And if that's not enough,  GoodShop also offers over 100,000 of the most up-to-date coupons and free shipping offers so you can save money at the same time. It's win win.

 Goodshop

GoodSearch is a Yahoo powered search engine which makes a donation to us each time you do a search.

Install your GoodShop/GoodSearch toolbar right now on your Firefox or Internet Explorer browser here

While there isn't a toolbar available for Google Chrome, you can easily set GoodSearch as your default search provider by following the instructions at this link.

Refuse to install another toolbar? That's okay. Just be sure to link to the store of your choice from the GoodShop homepage before making the purchase.
