GRANT MONEY AWARDED
HSOY awarded $13,000 for low-cost spay/neuter and microchipping
The Humane Society of Yuma is honored to have received two grants in the last week .
The Arizona Companion Spay and Neuter Committee, charged with dispersing the funds raised from the sale of the Arizona Spay and Neuter license plates, awarded HSOY with $10,000 for low-cost spay neuter.
We also received $3,000 from the Yuma Community Foundation for the Safe Way Home program. The funds are in addition to the $27,000 received earlier this summer from the Foundation. The Safe Way Home program allows us to microchip every dog adopted from us at no cost to the adopter.
We would like to thank these two organizations for their assistance in furthering our mission.

WALK 'N WAG MOVES TO LAS BARRANCAS GOLF COURSE
Walk 'n Wag relocated due to rapid progress in construction of new shelter
Due to the rapid progress of the new shelter construction, The fifth annual Walk n' Wag will no longer be held at the New Shelter site. The event has been relocated to the Las Barrancas Golf Course and will no longer include the 5K / one mile walk.
The Humane Society of Yuma and the Yuma Kennel Club invite their supporters and their four-legged friends to join us for a fun day of activities in recognition of "AKC's Responsible Dog Owner Day". The HSOY will be setting up a pet obstacle course for public use and demonstration and will be partnering with the Yuma Kennel Club who will be holding rally demos, pet first-aid, pet therapy information, and loads of information on the different activities we can enjoy with our canine friends. The Humane Society will also be offering a public microchipping clinic, ID Pet Tag engraving, and will have plenty of HSOY merchandise and Be Humane Shirts for Sale.

THANK YOU Local quilters quilt doggie beds.
The Humane Society of Yuma would like to thank the Roadrunner Quilters of Yuma for making dog beds for the Humane Society of Yuma. The Roadrunner Quilters of Yuma, AZ began in early 2009 with a group of women who share a love for quilting and a desire to support local causes. In June of 2009 the ladies became a chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild and soon began meeting weekly with the primary objectives are to promote and encourage quilt making and to provide a channel for donations to charities. Using leftover fabric and batting, the quilters create pillows that provide our dogs with a tremendous amount of warm comfort while confined in our kennels. A big thank you to these ladies for their tremendous efforts. We know that our pups and kitties will enjoy their efforts in the colder months that are approaching.

FEATURED PET Tinker

Tinker is one charming little dog with a tail that constantly wags. Tinker was rescued by one of our animal control officers on Main Street in the heart of Yuma. Tinker is a Chihuahua-mix weighing in at just a tad over 11 pounds. He's still just a baby at three months old. He's been neutered, micro-chipped, has started his first series of puppy shots and his rabies vaccination so he's ready to walk off the showroom floor. Tinker is adorable he loves giving puppy smooches, playing with his toys and absolutely loves everyone. Tinker has gorgeous green eyes and a fantastic personality to match. Tinker is a versatile love bug that would complement either a family of one or a whole house full and loves playing with other dogs.

FEATURED PET Li Yung
"What a beautiful cat," is what all your friends and family will say when you welcome this handsome boy into your home and family. Li Yung is a two year old neutered male Balinese Siamese cat with a gorgeous long, fluffy coat of cream and chocolate. Li Yung has stunning blue eyes and is a heart throb who dishes out adoration as much as he takes in. Li Yung was brought in by a concerned citizen who found him wandering the streets, with maybe hopes he would reunite with his owner....but he never did. The street was especially bad place for Li Yung because his front paws have been declawed, so he will definitely need to be an inside cat. Li Yung is here loving on everyone and purring up a storm with all his visitors until he finds the purrfect family to take him home.

LONELY HEARTS CLUB Swimmer
Swimmer is a card carrying member of the Lonely Hearts Club. Swimmer was rescued off the streets of Somerton in early July, and was adopted out in August only to be chained up outside for being a little too whiny for his new family. Swimmer is a great little dog and he really enjoys playtime with other dog's in the play yard. Swimmer is still a young buck he's only about a year old and is a ball full of energy. Swimmer is a Chihuahua blend possibly with some Dachshund. he has an adorable look to him and short little legs.
Swimmer has already been neutered, is current with vaccines and microchipped so he's rearing to be walked off the showroom floor and into someone or some family's heart. He needs a loving family to save his life so to help him find one, we have lowered his adoption fee to just $55.00. Just look at those eyes looking back at you saying, "Take me home and a backyard!"
