Just in time for Fur Ball V, Tuxedo Tuesdays are back at HSOY!
Help us spread the word about Tuxedo Tuesdays! Print out the flier and post around.

Sometimes, cats and dogs wearing black and white coats in one combination or another (whether all black, all white or anywhere in between) have a harder time getting adopted than other color schemes. Well, not this September, because it's Tuxedo Tuesdays all month long! We're getting our tuxedos on for Fur Ball V (September 17th) and all cats and dogs donned in any combination of black and white will be 50% off!

The reduced fees are as follows: cats, $23; kittens, $28; dogs, $38; puppies, $45.  All adoptions include the animal's spay or neuter and rabies vaccination and a five pound starter bag of Hill's Science Diet.  Dog adoptions also include parvo, distemper, and bordatella vaccinations and microchipping. Cats at our PetSmart adoption center have been tested for FIV and feline leukemia. Cats can be microchipped for an additional $5.

Habitat for Humanity and Yuma Community Food Bank get drop-off sites at shelter

Yuma Community Food BankHabitat for Humanity

The Humane Society of Yuma believes strongly in supporting other non-profits in the community.  We recently invited Habitat for Humanity to place one of their signature aluminum can (and plastic) recycling sheds at our shelter.  We have also placed a Yuma Community Food Bank drop-off box in our lobby.  So if you're planning to make a trip to our shelter, remember to bring your aluminum cans and non-perishable food items along.
Sissy: a tuxedo puppy

Sissy

Sissy is a lovable American Pit bull Terrier. At five months, she's still just a baby.  Sissy was saved by one of our animal control officers, who picked her up playing in the busy city streets of Yuma. Sissy has a dressed-up tuxedo coat of stunning black and white and eyes that say "take me home." Sissy has been spayed, microchipped, has started her first series puppy shots, and has received her rabies vaccine. Sissy is a very smart girl. She knows how to "sit" and she walks well on her leash. Sissy is going to make someone a great best friend. She is a fabulous listener and loves to just be by your side. So if you're ready to add a furry new family member to your household, remember there are many dogs and cats here at our shelter just waiting to share their love with you.

L.C. the cat

L. C. the Cat

Just look at this beautiful face!! Please meet...L.C., a gorgeous female kitty cat we have here available for adoption. L.C. is about 2 years old and is the Queen Bee. She prefers to have her owner all to herself. L.C. is a fantastic girl full of love, although this sassy girl prefers a castle of her own. The best arrangement for L.C. would be as an only pet. It would make L.C.'s world a whole lot nicer. So if you're looking for that special one and only pet to share your life together, look no further--L.C. will be here waiting.  ADOPT a shelter pet today. They really need you!

Kong toys arrive from Dr. Marty Becker
Kong toys
Remember the "Dr. Marty Becker - $70,000 in shelter pet supplies" contest we were in? Well, we didn't win but they are awarding us with $1,000 worth of Kong products for our strong finish, and we just received a big box full of Kong toys! Thank you, Dr. Marty Becker and Kong Toys!
