Critter Country is coming to town!
Dust off your boots and get ready for the "Critter Country Comes To Town" at the fancy Yuma Palms RV Resort on Saturday, March 26, 5:30 to 10 p.m. We promise to have quite the party at our beautiful indoor/outdoor venue with two barbecue buffet stations and two saloons serving all your favorite beverages!
The auction items are pouring in thanks to the generosity of our item donors and hard working volunteers who are rallying the local community and business owners to support our efforts. (If anyone would like to donate an item please give Claire Eckard a call and we can arrange to pick it up and we still need a few more volunteers, especially for the evening of the event). The rodeo folks are making our decorations extra special this year and we have several treats in store for everyone, including gourmet chocolates and cupcakes (is your mouth watering yet?).
VIP (Very Important Pet caretakers) tables are available for groups and businesses at $600 for a table with seating for eight. As always, our VIP tables offer some tempting extras for those folks who donate a little extra to the cause. This promises to be an exceptional event, so get on down to the Yuma Palms RV Resort and help Yuma's Critters in need! Tickets for the event are $35 and are available online, at the Humane Society of Yuma, 285 N. Figueroa or the Humane Society Thrift Shop at 2375 S. 4th Avenue ( behind Audio Einsteins). For more information contact Claire Eckard at panamania13@sbcglobal.net or (928) 503-0030

Gus says, "See Jimmy Fortune"
Gus, a male orange tabby would like to share what he knows about a concert on Saturday night at the Yuma Palms. The Palms RV Resort is going all out in support of Yuma's needy pets with a concert series over the next couple of months that will benefit the Humane Society of Yuma. The ticket price to each of these events is $8, $2 of which will be donated to the Humane Society of Yuma.
Jimmy Fortune toured, sang and performed with the legendary Statler Brothers for 21 years. He joined them first as a temporary replacement for Lew DeWitt, after DeWitt heard him singing at a ski resort and recommended him. Following an audition in Nashville, Jimmy was contacted by the Statler Brothers and performed his first show with them on January 28, 1982, in Savannah, Georgia.

Somerton rabies clinic tomorrow
The HSOY Rabies Clinic Crew will be at Somerton's Council Park from 10am to 1pm tomorrow, Saturday, February 26.
All dogs three months or older residing in Yuma County must be licensed by March 31st. The license verifies that your dog is current with his/her rabies vaccination.
If your dog is vaccinated, you may license online with a scanned or faxed copy of your dog's valid rabies certificate. A valid certificate must be signed by a U.S. licensed veterinarian, state whether your dog is altered or not, and be current through at least April 1st.
If a rabies vaccine expires during the year, your dog must be revaccinated in order to keep the license valid. A license is invalid during any lapse between the expiration of a vaccination and revaccination.
If your dog needs to be vaccinated, the Humane Society of Yuma holds a number of rabies clinics at locations around the county for your convenience.

"We're in desperate need of kitty litter!" pleads Gray Guy.
Gray Guy cannot stress the urgent need for kitty litter enough. As indicated by the above photo, kitty litter serves a whole array of purposes here at the shelter. A nice warm bed, a fun-filled sandbox, and a not-so-private potty.
Thank you to those who have donated kitty litter the past couple of weeks. But we need more. Much more. Help our kitties have enough litter for all the purposes they can come up with.

Cher update
Hi! Linda,
First I want to "Thank You," for allowing me to adopt Cher on 1/13/2011. She is a positive addition to our family.
Right from the beginning she made herself at home, showed that she has her own attitude and got along with the other dogs. After spending about two weeks in Yuma we started our long trip east. She traveled quite well, slept most of the way and when we arrived in Virginia, she got her first taste of snow. Now she loves to play in it and eat it.
We took her to the vet the other day and we are happy to report that she has gained just a little over 1 pound, eats her food including her veggies, plays a lot with Low Rider (our Yorkie), and sleeps wherever she wants too.
She is a very lovable dog and we love her deary.
I have attached several photos of her.
Again, thanks for our little girl.
Beverly & Terry Raber
