Remember tonight's volunteer orientation!
Yuma's homeless pets need you to help out with a whole variety of things. We especially need foster parents. If you are interested in volunteering or fostering, please attend tonight's volunteer orientation at Yuma's Main Library (2951 S. 21st Dr.) at 6pm.

Wishlist item of the week: Dryer sheets
Dryer sheets continue to be in very, very short supply. We do a lot of laundry every day to make sure our pets have plenty of clean, warm towels and blankets.
There is also a need for poop scoopers.

If your dog already has his or her certificate of rabies vaccination there is no need to stand in line on Saturday. Just license online. It's super fast and if your dog's certificate is on file with the HSOY, you won't even have to submit another copy. If you do have a new certificate to show us, you can either email, fax, or even upload it when you submit your application. |

Need your shots? Do it this weekend.
We are unable to administer vaccinations online at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.
All dogs three months or older residing in Yuma County must be licensed by March 31st. The license verifies that your dog is current with his/her rabies vaccination.
If your dog is vaccinated, you may license online beginning January 1st with a scanned or faxed copy of your dog's valid rabies certificate. A valid certificate must be signed by a U.S. licensed veterinarian, state whether your dog is altered or not, and be current through at least April 1st.
If a rabies vaccine expires during the year, your dog must be revaccinated in order to keep the license valid. A license is invalid during any lapse between the expiration of a vaccination and revaccination.
If your dog needs to be vaccinated, the Humane Society of Yuma holds a number of rabies clinics at locations around the county for your convenience.

Greg Bonham at the Yuma Palms RV Resort
Greg Bonham, "The Voice of Las Vegas," will appear at the Yuma Palms RV Resort on January 8 at 7pm. HSOY will get 25% of ticket sales ($8/ticket). "His Aussie accent charms, his soaring expressive voice and warm personality captivates....and then Greg picks up his golden trumpet and blows the ceiling off the room. His mellow Doc Severenson sound and scorching' Maynard style' high notes bring the house down. His version of "Macarthur Park" is a true showstopper." Visit http://www.yumapalmsresort.com/lookatthis.html for more info.

Chuky
Chuky is one of our longtime shelter guests. He has been with us for close to a month now. Chuky is great example of how wonderful pit bull terriers really can be. , . He is still a young puppy at around nine to ten months old, He is sweet, energetic and loves to play, play, and play some more . He would be a great house dog and a really great best friend! Chuky is also very smart. He learns commands very quickly and would really learn nearly anything for treats!! All we wish for Chuky is to find a great loving family to pamper him. We all love him and know there's a family out there that will love him as much as we do. |
