Remember your 2010 tax deductions and Yuma's homeless pets simultaneously!
Time is running out to make charitable contributions that you will be able to take as tax deductions come next April. And wouldn't you know it? Our pets have their paws stretched out, looking up at you with the saddest puppy dog eyes. Yes, we'd be honored to be the recipient of your year-end generosity.
...and here's something our sleuthing kittens just uncovered that may be of interest. Did you know that you deduct donations made by credit card at the time of the transaction not when you pay the credit card bill. So, for example, if your credit card has a $10,000 limit you could take a $10,000 deduction and not have to pay a penny of it until next year!
So visit our homepage and contribute today (to either our daily needs or towards our new shelter). |

2011 licensing season set to begin.
All dogs three months or older residing in Yuma County must be licensed by March 31st. The license verifies that your dog is current with his/her rabies vaccination.
If your dog is vaccinated, you may license online beginning January 1st with a scanned or faxed copy of your dog's valid rabies certificate. A valid certificate must be signed by a U.S. licensed veterinarian, state whether your dog is altered or not, and be current through at least April 1st.
If a rabies vaccine expires during the year, your dog must be revaccinated in order to keep the license valid. A license is invalid during any lapse between the expiration of a vaccination and revaccination.
If your dog needs to be vaccinated, the Humane Society of Yuma holds a number of rabies clinics at locations around the county for your convenience.

Merry Fourth Day of Christmas from Ellie
Merry Christmas from Ellie. Ellie, an adorable long-haired calico around one year old with beautiful markings and matching personality, was found by our Animal Control Sgt. Acton hiding beneath a staff member's vehicle. She's one of the many pets who are spending the holiday at our shelter. But she'd like to remind you that our 50% off all adoptions runs through the 31st. If she's lucky, she'll be spending New Year's Eve in a comfy, warm bed in her newly found forever home.

Ditto from Petra
Petra would like to echo Ellie's sentiments. Petra is a six month old female Labrador / American pit bull terrier blend and sweet as can be. We have so many pit blends at our shelter we just love them. Petra is super playful and always has a happy tail. The only thing with her is you have to be prepared to be smothered with kisses!! She is a young, silly little love bug who'll make a great family pet and will bring plenty of laughs and smiles to a forever home. She wants to repeat what Ellie said about our "Home for the holidays" 50% off all adoptions promotion runs through the 31st. Petra hopes a good family takes advantage of this deal and takes her home to welcome in 2011. Merry Christmas from Petra.

Greg Bonham at the Yuma Palms RV Resort
Greg Bonham, "The Voice of Las Vegas," will appear at the Yuma Palms RV Resort on January 8 at 7pm. HSOY will get 25% of ticket sales ($8/ticket). "His Aussie accent charms, his soaring expressive voice and warm personality captivates....and then Greg picks up his golden trumpet and blows the ceiling off the room. His mellow Doc Severenson sound and scorching' Maynard style' high notes bring the house down. His version of "Macarthur Park" is a true showstopper." Visit http://www.yumapalmsresort.com/lookatthis.html for more info.
