Fur Ball IV brings dream closer to reality

Fur Ball IV, an annual gala to benefit HSOY's New Shelter Project, was held last Saturday at the 3C Building on AWC Campus.

The event had many highlights and many thanks are due to many individuals and businesses, all of which will be forthcoming.

CURTIS/PERRICONE AWARD
Loma Clark was the recipient of the Curtis/Perricone Award, given annually at the Fur Ball to an individual or individuals who make extraordinary contributions to the HSOY which advance animal welfare in the community.

Loma's involvement with the HSOY has been, indeed, extraordinary.  In addition to being a generous donor, Loma has served as a board member, as an invaluable volunteer and currently holds the position of HSOY Rescue Coordinator and adoption counselor.

Loma and Abbott

As a volunteer, Loma has fostered over 150 pets in need and driven over 1,000 pets to rescues on HSOY's Rescue Express.  The "Rescue Express" was, in fact, donated to the HSOY by Loma.

Also, as a volunteer, Loma coordinated our low-cost spay/neuter program.

It should be added that Loma, in fact, shared the Award with her beloved Irish Setter, Abbott who passed away recently.
Highlighting Miss Daisy

 Daisy

Miss Daisy, a seven month old, spayed female terrier/lab blend is sweet and full of energy, but you'll never see her tail wag.  She's a well-adjusted, happy young girl that just happens not to have a tail.  Why? Well, we don't know for sure but it appears that she was born without one. We do know one thing.  When you are driving Miss Daisy to her new forever home, she'll be thumping her tail like mad on the inside.

Borscht

 Bortsch the cat

Dear HSOY,

These are of one of my two cats, Borscht. He was part of a litter of four that we fostered that had been born to a pregnant cat seized from a hoarder. One of his sisters is still in Yuma, and his other sister and brother went to a rescue in Phoenix, but we couldn't let him go. He is the smartest and most devious cat I've ever seen (hence the pictures of him in the dryer and dishwasher), and also the most expressive. He also has REALLY long hair, and most of the time has a lion cut to keep it under control. And the one picture is the first one we took when we got him and his siblings home from the shelter.

Birthday Party Donations

 Birthday party

When Kensy Adame invited her friends to her eleventh birthday party,  she requested that, in lieu of gifts, they bring items from the HSOY wishlist.  Her friends were happy to oblige and the result was tremendous.  On Saturday, September 10,  Kensy, her younger sister, Mia, and their mother, Rebecca (not pictured), unloaded the collected gifts at our shelter.

Thank you to Kensy and all of her guests for the great birthday gifts to the animals.  Happy Birthday!

Tuxedo Tuesday outlasts Fur Ball IV

Tuxedo Tuesdays

While Fur Ball IV has forever passed into the annals of HSOY history, Tuxedo Tuesday is still ongoing!  So take that tux to the dry cleaners and bring home one or two tuxedos that clean themselves!  Yes, for a limited time you can still adopt a black and white or black cat for 50% off normal adoption fees.
