Picture your pet on the side of our truck!
We're lettering our PetSmart truck and putting a couple photos of pets on each side (one cat, one dog). We thought it would be cool to open up the selection of photos on the back to direct democracy, Facebook style. The photo of a dog and the photo of a cat with the most "likes" in one week (by 6pm Thursday, July 20) will be given a healthy dose of fame.
Making sure your pet is seen all around town is easy. Post your pet's picture to facebook.com/hsoyuma and then get all of your friends to like it. And get your friends to get all of their friends to like it as well. |

We need you to be a Watch Dog
The HSOY Watch Dogs are having their next meeting on Mon. July 19, 2010 at 5:30pm at the new spay and neuter clinic. HSOY Watch Dogs will help monitor animal cruelty cases, attend cruelty cases in court and to advocate the advancement of animal welfare issues in Yuma County. |

Overwhelming response to request for towels, kitty litter
A really big thank you to every one who has responded to our urgent appeal for bath towels and kitty litter. You are amazing! Our towel shelves overfloweth and we've received nearly a ton of kitty litter since last week's appeal went out. Your response has been so overwhelming that shelter staff now tell me that we up to the gills in kitty litter and do not need anymore at this time.
Ms. Wrinkles stands in front of a shelving unit filled with bath towels, which she requested last week. |
Bags of kitty litter were quickly filling up one of our storage sheds. |

Media Pet of the Week: Honey
Honey, this week's Media Pet of the Week, has a special message before going on and on about herself. She wants the Facebook world to know that the 4 Paws Pantry, HSOY's pet food assistance program, is in need of puppy and dog food (they have enough cat food for now, thank you very much) donations. Donation drop offs are at our shelter, both thrift stores, the spay & neuter clinic and the following Starbucks: the Big Curve, Yuma Palms and Avenue B and 24th Street (the stand-alone location, not the one inside Albertson's). Now about the sweetest little girl ever! Honey came to us a stray, she is about two years old, spayed female, terrier mix. Ms. Honey gets along well with everybody and has several four-legged playmates here. She is a calm, gentle girl who would fit into most families well. Honey has an endless supply of kisses and tail wags to greet you with. Honey is available for adoption Thursday at 10 a.m.

Round Table Pizza
Round Table Pizza concluded it's Pizza for Pets fundraiser by presenting the HSOY with a check of $252.00. Round Table Pizza donated one dollar to HSOY for every large pizza that was sold on Wednesdays in the month of June. Now, that, is a lot of dough!
