Urgent need for wishlist items Non-clumping kitty litter and bath towels top the list
When HSOY kennel staff realized the pressing need for two wishlist items, they turned to two public relations experts to make the appeal on Facebook. Ms. Wrinkles made the case for bath towels. While Phoenix, a neutered male flame point who came to us as a stray, made the push for non-clumping kitty litter.
Phoenix appealed to our Facebook fans for non-clumping kitty litter on Thursday. | Ms. Wrinkles turned to Facebook on Tuesday for bath towel donations. |

This week's YouTube Babies
Lola is one big girl, a five year old spayed female who came in as a stray. | Compton's been at our shelter almost a month. He is a 10-11 month old cattle dog mix. He loves to fetch and play in the pool and has a lot of energy and love to share. |

Media Pet of the Week: Timmy
Just look at that face!! Timmy's an All American English Bulldog mix between two and three years old. He was found in town and brought to
our shelter but no owner's came to pick-up this big guy! Since Timmy's
been a guest here he has been all about naps and food. He's a lazy guy.
Maybe he's part couch-potato!! He would probably do best with a mellow,
quiet family that has sometime to teach this big baby that leashes and
walks are a good thing and so is Love! He is getting much better day
after day with us; he also doesn't seem to mind other dogs around him.
Timmy had a great time out at Petsmart visiting with families and
mingling with the other dogs as they were all waiting for their forever
homes. Timmy hasn't found his home yet, so if you're looking for a dog
to hang out on the couch with the family or just to lie around and look
pretty. |
THANK YOU MIKIDs wash cars, collect pet food
Several weeks ago, Yuma's MIKIDS had a car wash to benefit the HSOY. They also collected items for our 4 Paws Pantry as well. The car wash and pet food collection was a great success. HSOY Development Director Erin Sitera and former Media Pet of the Week Donkey picked up the collected goods. For more information about the MIKIDs (Mentally Ill Kids in Distress), visit mikid.org. |
ADOPTION SUCCESS STORY Perfect Pepper
 Dear
Loma, In response to your flier in the packet
that I received Saturday, I am
sending you news and photos of the ADORABLE dog we adopted on Saturday. She
was named "Speckles" but we have renamed her "Pepper". She and our other
dog,
Ba'cho, are getting along famously! She has actually taught him some
doggy
manners and he is so much nicer to be around now. I think he just needed a
companion. Pepper learned how to use the doggy door by Sunday night
and there
haven't been any accidents in the house since then. They love to run and
play in the
backyard. They have lots of room to really get a good head of stem up and
run it
off. So, thank you for the care you gave her until we got her. I
can't
imagine that someone didn't try to find her. She is a wonderful animal
to have
as part of our family. Thanks again! Aurora
