Patty Cake

 Patty Cake
Meet this week's media pet is Patty Cake. By the way she wags her happy tail, you'd never know this two year old, spayed female boxer/pit bull mix was brought in as a cruelty case. She was emaciated and was caring for a big litter of puppies. If any dog out there needs to see what life would be like to be in a family... that really loves her, Patty Cake's one of those dogs! She's great on a leash, loves playing with water from the hose and ripping up cotton-stuffed toys (but what dog doesn't enjoy that)! She loves just being with people and is great with kids. Patty Cake is a snuggle-bug and would just love to hang out while enjoying a healthy snack with you such as carrots (that's just one of her favorite treats). Most importantly, she would love to show a family of her own what a great dog she really so come see her for yourself!

4 Paws Pantry drop off locations at Starbucks

The 4 Paws Pantry has pet food donation drop-off boxes at the following Starbucks locations; The Starbucks on the Big Curve, Yuma Palms and Avenue B and 24th Street (the stand-...alone location, not the one inside Albertson's).   These locations are  in addition to our shelter and two thrift stores.  The greatest need appears to be puppy food.  The 4 Paws Pantry is a service of the Humane Society of Yuma to assist pet owners who are in need of assistance.  If you or someone you know is in need of assistance go to hsoyuma.com/4Paws to fill out an application.

Adoption Success Story:  Diesel

 Diesel

Erin Jan submitted the following success story on our Facebook page.

This is our Diesel,  previously known as Penguin ♥ He has been a wonderful addition to our family and loves to play with my three boys when he isn't lounging on the air conditioning vent! If we could only convince him that at 70 pounds ,and  not even a year old, he is not a lap dog :) I think that everyone should head to the Humane Society of Yuma when looking for a new dog.  We have always had great luck and there are so many loving dogs there who need forever homes!

Pizza for Pets in June

Round Table PizzaNo, we don't feed our pets pizza. "Pizza for Pets" is a fund raiser  that Round Table Pizza will be holding to benefit Yuma's homeless pets.  On every Wednesday in the month of June, $1 will be donated to the Humane Society of Yuma for every large pizza sold.  There are a total of five Wednesdays in this month, so let's make this fund raiser a success.  We can make a difference in our homeless pet's lives one slice at a time!

Fur Ball IV

You are invited to Fur Ball IV, an annual black tie affair to benefit the New Shelter on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at the AWC Community Center 6:00 p.m.   For the main entrée, guests will be served a choice of rib eye steak or vegan sweet potato gnocchi.  A few of the highlights will be a live and silent auction. Guests will be serenaded by a jazz band during cocktail hour and a dance band after the auction.  So mark your calendar, you can't afford to miss this annual gala in the name of Yuma's homeless pets. Beginning July 1st, tickets will be available online for $150 or reserve a table for $1,200 (serves eight guests).

Meow MeowMeow-Meow is a little tuxedo girl whose family had no time for her.  One of her many skills is hypnosis, so we'll let her have the stage.
"My name is Meow-meow. Look into my eyes. You are getting very sleepy. When I snap my fingers you are going to realize that you need to adopt a cat. No, two cats. You will realize that you can adopt two cats for the adoption fees of one.
