Do you have a window-mounted air conditioner that works but you don't need anymore?
One of our "office trailers" behind our shelter is without an effective air conditioner. If you have a window mounted air conditioner that works but isn't needed anymore, it would be so kind of you to donate it to us. Reply to this email if you have something for us. Thanks!

Correction:
In last week's E-Paws, we thanked Eckard Construction for the shade structure and its installation. While Eckard Construction did install the structure, it was donated by Rudy Martinez of Shade-N-Net out of Phoenix. It was a very generous donation that will be much appreciated by both playing dogs and the volunteers who play with them. |
22 dogs sent to rescue
On Friday, May 14, we loaded up the Rescue Epress with 22 dogs and took them to Phoenix to the Arizona Humane and Chihuahua Rescue. As you can see by the pictures, it was a pretty tight fit. Even the passenger seat was occupied! |
"We want to do our part"
Mrs. Duke's Pre-K class at the Yuma Preschool & Daycare collected pennies and change for two weeks to help the animals at the shelter. Each morning, the class starts the day off with a poem that ends with the line, "We want to do our part." At the end of the two weeks, the class collected a total of $149. Mrs. Duke's Pre-K class sets a great example of how we can all make a difference in our world one penny at a time |

Fore Paws Golf Classic a great success
HSOY staff would like to personally thank Bose Corporation, Coca Cola, Sparklett's, Canyon State Water, the team, raffle & tee sponsors, and of course, the participants and volunteers for this years event. The 2010 Annual Fore Paws Classic earned over $10,200 in net profit and had a total of 30 teams participate! This year's event had the largest number of participants to date, and was a huge success. We'd also like to thank all of our media friends for helping us promote the event. Lastly, a very special thank you to Allied Waste for donating the prize purse back to the HSOY. We would like to thank the community, our volunteers and supporters for all that they do, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the green next year!

Pizza for Pets in June
No, we don't feed our pets pizza. "Pizza for Pets" is a fund raiser Round Table Pizza will be holding to benefit Yuma's homeless pets. On every Wednesday in the month of June, $1 will be donated to the Humane Society of Yuma for every large pizza sold. There is a total of 5 Wednesdays in this month, so let's make this fund raiser a success. We can make a difference in our homeless pet's lives ones slice at a time! |

Ronald Reagan Elementary holds contest to help HSOY
The students of Ronald Reagan Elementary are having a contest to see which classroom can raise the most money and the most wish list items for HSOY. Every student who donates a wish list item or donates one dollar will get a paper paw displayed in the hallway of the school. The contest began Monday and as of Tuesday, they had collected 70 items and raised $44.
Fifth grader Kylee Lakey approached Bernice Felli, the Ronald Reagan's Computer Lab Instructional with this idea. Since the start of the fund raiser, Kylee Lakey has been staying after school preparing fliers and cutting out paw prints as well as preparing the boxes for each classroom and giving special daily announcements to motivate the students. "She is a very motivated young lady", says Felli. Kylee's family is sponsoring two pizza parties, one for the K-3 classroom with the most paws and the 4-6 classroom with the most. The contest ends Friday. Be sure to check out next week's e-paws to see the end result of this awesome fund raiser
