HSOY will be switching to it's summer hours on June 1st.  The office will be open Tuesday through Saturday  from 9am to 5pm, kennels Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4:30pm.  Summer hours stay into effect until September 31st.
Dogs, volunteers get a place in the shade to play

Thanks to Troy and Claire Eckard of Eckard Construction, our dogs and the volunteers who play with them will have shade this summer to keep them cool.
Dog shade canopy
Thanks to some engineering mastery, this canopy can withstand near-gale force winds!

Also, a special thanks to Troy and his crew for replacing the door (which involved rebuilding the door frame) on an old, rickety trailer behind the shelter that three of us call our office. It was literally hanging from a single hinge.

Meet Heidi!

Heidi
Play? Play?!? Play!!!!! That is the first thing on Heidi's mind. Heidi is 10 month old female terrier mix. Heidi is a sweet girl who warms up quickly and is ready for fun. Heidi is looking for an active forever family to love her and build her self confidence. She will surely melt you heart and love to join you for many adventures.

Heidi is available Thursday 5-13 for adoption.

Thank you's

The Yuma Foothills Rotary presented us a check for $500 Wednesday. The money will go to the New Shelter Project
Yuma Foothills Rotary

Nicholas Gorren recently celebrated his 10th birthday with a party, And instead of gifts, Nicholas requested that guests bring items on our wish list for our pets. Everyone who attended the party was very generous and they collected several items from our wish list, and donated a total of $75.00

Still time to be a Paw Prints newsletter sponsor!

There is still time to become a newsletter sponsor for the upcoming Paw Prints!  It promises to be our best-est issue ever! We are looking for businesses (or individuals!) that would like to increase their visibility and let the community know that they support the Humane Society of Yuma.  This newsletter will be mailed to 4,000 recent donors and adopters in the Yuma area and will be available for months to come at a variety of locations. Be a newsletter sponsor! $50 sponsors will receive a 2.4 in x 1.9 space and $100 sponsors will receive a 2.4 x 3.925 in.

Also, if you receive our print newsletter but would like to save us a stamp and just read the .pdf electronic version that will be available online (and in an upcoming issue of E-Paws), Please email newsletter@hsoyuma.com with the subject line "SAVE A STAMP" or something to that effect.

Also, we are constantly looking to increase the readership of our newsletter.  If you know of a doctor's office lobby, dining area, or any where people sit around looking for something to read, let us know and we'll get you a few copies.  Again, email newsletter@hsoyuma.com but this time you can choose your own subject line.
Kitten season in full effect

More kittensWe are being inundated with these cute fur balls with more coming every day. Welcome to kitten season. And it's not even the middle of May. Adopt, spay and neuter. And remember, there is no such thing as a free kitten. For every kitten given "free to a good home" there is a kitten at our shelter that doesn't.
