New PetSmart weekend schedule
We are now at PetSmart  on Friday evenings from 4-7pm!  Our Saturday appearance from 10-4pm will not change but we will no longer be at PetSmart on Sundays.
Availability of low-cost spay & neuter increases
After well over a year of long waiting periods for low-cost spay/neuter applicants, the wait time has been greatly reduced (due to, in no small part, to the opening of the off site clinic).  Please apply, or encourage others to apply, at hsoyuma.com/spayneuter today and let's end pet overpopulation.
Fur Ball IV

You are invited to Fur Ball IV, an annual black tie affair to benefit the New Shelter on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at the AWC Community Center 6:00 p.m.   For the main entrée, guests will be served a choice of rib eye,  chicken piccata, or vegan sweet potato gnocchi .  A few of the highlights will be a live and silent auction. Guests will be serenaded by a jazz band during cocktail hour and a dance band after the auction.  So mark your calendar, you can't afford to miss this annual gala in the name of Yuma's homeless pets. Beginning July 1st, tickets will be available online for $150 or reserve a table for $1,200 (serves eight guests).
Unique pendant crafted for Fur Ball IV

BenslerPaul Bensel, Yuma's renown jewelry artisan, works on the piece that will be available for Fur Ball IV. The Fur Ball ladies presented Paul with an idea and he perfected the design into a dream piece. Crafting with gold and diamonds from the vault of the Carats for Cats & Canines jewelry event, Paul created a unique pendant that is  divine eye candy. When complete, the mold will be broken for a unique heirloom to be cherished. Paul and his staff contributed their time and efforts to make this novel piece for a very lucky gentleman or lady. Thank you, Paul Bensel Jeweler's, for your continued  support for the HSOY Fur Ball events..
Betty Boop-oop-a-doop

Betty BoopMeet Betty Boop! Betty is a one year old, spayed chihuahua mix. Poor Miss Betty was a stray before she became our guest. She is a quiet girl who doesn't mind other dogs as long as they are quiet too. Young kids can be a bit overwhelming to her. Betty can be a little coy, but nice she warms up she loves to crawl up in ...your lap and sneak a few kisses. Betty has been with us for a while and she really needs a furever home. Betty is available Thursday, 6-3 for adoption.
Pizza for Pets in June

Round Table PizzaNo, we don't feed our pets pizza. "Pizza for Pets" is a fund raiser  that Round Table Pizza will be holding to benefit Yuma's homeless pets.  On every Wednesday in the month of June, $1 will be donated to the Humane Society of Yuma for every large pizza sold.  There are a total of five Wednesdays in this month, so let's make this fund raiser a success.  We can make a difference in our homeless pet's lives one slice at a time!

June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month

Every year, the Humane Society of Yuma joins animal shelters across the country in recognizing June as Adopt a Shelter Cat Month.  June is the cruelest month of kitten season and in hopes of alleviating the tragedy, two cats may be adopted for the fees of a single adoption.

Our cat room is filled with cutest kittens waiting for you to take them and a buddy home.  So take some time this Memorial Day weekend to sit down with your furry children and prepare them for the arrival of more fluffy siblings.
