Greetings!

I know how inundated an inbox can become with email blasts from every organization and business that has managed to get a hold of your address. Therefore, I want to thank you for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter.

Maybe you've seen our commercial on KSWT promoting our new push to recruit Every Day Heroes.  Our pets definitely need heroes and for less than a price of a stamp a day, you can become one of those heroes.

To your right, you will see a few suggested levels of monthly support with an example of what that amount can do for our pets.

Thank you for your time and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Ed Snook

Ice Girl

A dog named Ice. This is Ice, so named for her beautiful blue eyes. Ice is a spayed female, Pomeranian mix. She is about two years old. Ice was adopted from us last summer and had to come back because she became jealous of the other dog in the home and became very bossy. Ice is a wonderful girl, she is housebroke and good with kids. She is a super sweet, cute dog. She would just do best as an only pet.

Older gentleman seeks happy home
Meet Smokey SENIOR PET: I'm Smokey. I'm fourteen years old and was all ready to move with my family when they dropped me off here. I never thought I'd be writing a personal ad at my age, but here it goes. "Do you have a soft place, like a pillow or comfy chair, beneath a sunny window? Or better yet, a lap? Lonely neutered Himala...yan male looking for that special someone to share my golden years with. I'm good with kids (or grandkids) but am not interested in a relationship complicated by canines. I am content with the quiet life and am thoroughly house-trained. I'm available at a reduced rate. I'm a bargain at $25 but hope to find someone to treasure me. I know I'll treasure you."
Student councils come to HSOY's aid

AmerischoolsThe Student Council Leadership of Americshool presented a check in the amount of $250.00 to the HSOY. They held a yard sale and wanted to donate the proceeds to the HSOY because of their love of animals. The Humane Society of Yuma thanks the kids of Amerischool for their hard work and efforts in making our community a better place

.

Yuma LutheranThe Student Life Council of Yuma Lutheran sold hot cocoa for two weeks and raised  $343.40. Despite rainy weather, the Student life Council sold 10 gallons of Cocoa in a 20-minutes on their busiest morning! The school also donated items from our "wish list", such as kitty litter, newspapers & dog toys.

New clinic is up and fixing

Cat being released better than newOur off-site spay/neuter clinic has been open for a week now and it's already had a great impact.  Here, Loma Clark is checking out a cat who, while not broke, still needed fixing and is leaving better than new.

.

Doggie completely outThis new clinic will give local vets and HSOY staff the space they need to work their magic.  Here, Dr. Lisa McElroy of Desert Veterinary Clinic and HSOY's Hilda Montes prepare to do operate on yet another pretty shaved belly.

Adoption success story: Jose

Editor's note: There's no such thing as too many adoption success stories.  Fortunately for us, Linda, our Adoption Supervisor, receives quite a few. Some, as this one from Jose, are written by the adopted children themselves.
 Jose
Dear Linda,
I want to thank you for looking after me for nearly a month and finding me my adopted parents.  If you hadn't put my picture in the paper my mom and dad wouldn't have seen me.  I have my own bed but I still sleep with my mom and dad and I have my own toy box.  I am trying to train them and I think I'm doing a pretty good job.  They love me very much and I just love it when they take me for a ride in the truck.  My dad takes me for lots of walks so I get lots of exercise besides playing with all my toys. My dad took me to the vet, which I didn't like very much, but he said I am in wonderful shape but can't get my papers to enter Canada until march, so I'll have to go back in march to the doctor, i am not looking forward to that.  Then I will be going to Canada and meeting my extended family.

Thank you again for looking after me so well. My parents thank you, too.

Love, from Jose (also known as "Chip")

Sincerely
Elizabeth Thomas
