| Meet Hazel |
|

Hazel is a two year old spayed female husky mix. She was rescued by some loving people, cleaned up and brought to us to help her find a furever home. She has not lived with kids, but is sweet with all she meets. She has been a good friend to the other cats and dogs in the home. Ms. Hazel is a free spirit, though, so she must be watched very closely and never left alone outside, even in a fenced yard. She is a Doggie Houdini, leaping fences and escaping yards in a matter of seconds. She knows how to use a doggie door but, again, should never be unattended. She loves belly rubs and walks (with her peeps), but will partake on her own if given the chance! Hazel is a sweet, friendly dog who loves everyone she meets. She is crate trained and is learning her commands and manners. She is quiet the conversationalist too!

Who's there?
Kitten Season.
Kitten season who?
Tammy, Jimmy and Timmy, that's who!
These three siblings are the vanguard of what promises to be long parade of litters that will come to our shelter this spring and summer.
Kitten season is no joke. But you can make the best out of it by adopting one, two... |
Girls bring van full of supplies.
|
Just because your too young to volunteer doesn't mean you can't help the animals in a really big way. Sara, age 10, came to her mom one night and asked if there was some way she could help animals. Her mom gave her a copy of our newsletter, Paw Prints. Sara read it and found our wishlist and decided collecting items on the list was the way to go. Sara talked to her friend Amy, 11, about it and both girls got to work. They came in last week with a van full of supplies. We, both animal and human, can't begin to thank you enough, Sara and Amy.

| Ground marking follows new shelter's ground breaking |
|
On Friday, February 26, we had a ground-breaking ceremony for our new shelter. While the Ground Breaking received media coverage, KSWT's Sunny the Weather Dog's impromptu ground marking ceremony went unreported - until now.
Get behind Sunny!

| Adoption success story: Barney |
Editor's note: There's no such thing as too many adoption success stories. Fortunately for us, Linda, our Adoption Supervisor, receives quite a few.
Linda, I received your card today regarding the dog I adopted from you 11/3/09. He is such a fun fun dog and has gained the weight he needed to. I am not sure what you had named him but we named him Barney because we already had a doxie called Fred so now we have Fred and Barney. He is very lovable, loves attention and you would not believe the two of them. From the moment I brought Barney in the door there was very little sniffing it was off to play and has been that way ever since. He just fits in perfectly and gets more love that any one dog needs, they both do. They are both lap dogs and love to either lay down with you or sit in your lap, but no matter what if they are not playing they have to be right where you are. I am so glad I picked him or I should say he picked me. The first time I went through looking he jumped up on the cage and I looked at him and told him I would be back I had to go through once more and it was if he understood me because the second time I went to his cage he was sitting looking at me with these really sad eyes that just said take me home and that was all it took and we have been buddys ever since. Thank you and all your staff for all their help that day. Sincerely Elizabeth Thomas | |
