Arts Council EnglandArts Council England Workshop

Arts Council England are holding an open access funding scheme workshop.  This is a great opportunity to meet Sara Sanderson from Arts Council England and learn more about this funding scheme.

 

Grants for the arts is a year round lottery fund for individual artists, arts organisations, museums, libraries and other organisations to deliver arts projects. Potentially funded arts projects can be used to assist an organisation's delivery on other agendas such as health and wellbeing urban regeneration, youth work etc.

InformationFunding Fair - Thursday 12 January 2012 

Are you a new group that hasn't applied for funding yet and would like to find out which funders to approach?

Are you looking for funding to continue your existing services?Are you developing new projects/activities that need funding?

 

If so, come along to our Funding Fair on 12 January at Community Action, 4 Charnwood Street, Derby from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm - no booking required.  There will be lots of funders there to support and advise voluntary organisations with their funding queries.

Measuring the Difference - Social Return on Investment

Date:   12 December

A half-day workshop for Derbyshire/Derby city groups to understand and demonstrate the difference your service makes and to prove your value/worth to funders, commissioners and stakeholders.

There are many ways in which the internet can bring about change and the Nominet Trust supports projects that demonstrate how they will contribute to a safe, accessible online world, which offers opportunities to improve lives and committees: 

  • Using the internet for social good e.g. projects that build the skills people require to access employment or education opportunities;
  • Improving internet safety e.g. projects that encourage young people to help and support each other, develop skills, self-confidence and safety awareness; and 
  • Increasing internet access e.g. projects that help older people connect with families and friends.

moneyAdvice Service Fund

The Cabinet Office has announced that a £16.8m fund for free advice services in England will be delivered by the Big Fund, the non-lottery arm of the Big Lottery Fund.  The fund opened for applications at the end of November and will provide grants to organisations providing debt, welfare benefits, employment and housing advice services. The fund will provide grants of between £40,000 and £70,000 to be spent on service delivery.   The deadline for receiving applications is noon on 22 December 2011. BIG logoBig Lottery - £10million Communities Sustainability Programme

This programme aims to inspire people to adapt the way they live, work and engage with each other to reap financial, environmental and health gains. Communities will be expected to introduce a range of different sustainable activities including reducing waste, identifying alternative energy sources, accessing and growing local fresh foods or improving energy efficiency for individuals and in community buildings. Other activities could include: 

  • Recycling and reuse schemes e.g. refurbishment of furniture for people in need; or
  • Educating those suffering from fuel poverty on how to make their homes more energy efficient. 

Community partnerships are invited to submit an expression of interest by noon on 31 January 2012.  30 areas are likely to receive development funding of up to £10,000 to draw up detailed plans.  For more information visit the Big Lottery website or call 0845 4 10 20 30.

Funding is available for community groups working on the Austin and Sinfin Estates in Derby city.

The John Ellerman Foundation supports:

PoundsNationwide - Money Matters, Homes Matter, Families Matter

Nationwide makes grants to registered charities that offer financial and/or housing related support to: 

  • Survivors of domestic abuse
  • Older people

Heritage Lottery Fund - Parks for People offers grants for projects that regenerate public parks of national, regional or local heritage value. Eligible projects must ensure that: 

  • The community values the park as part of their heritage;
  • The park meets local social, economic and environmental needs;
  • The park management actively involves local people

All projects must be able to demonstrate that they can: 

  • Increase the range of audiences;
  • Conserve and improve heritage value;
  • Increase the range of volunteers involved;
  • Improve skills and knowledge through learning and training;and
  • Improve management and maintenance of the park

footballFootball Foundation

The Football Foundation provides a Facilities Grant Scheme for projects that improve facilities for football and other sport in local communities.  Organisations that are eligible to apply include football clubs, schools, multi-sports, local authorities, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations.

moneyThe Archer Trust

The Archer Trust prefers to support organisations working in areas of high unemployment and deprivation. They favour charities that make good use of volunteers. You need to meet the following criteria: 

  • A small UK charity for whom a grant of between £250 and £3,000 will make a big difference
  • You provide aid or support to a defined group of needy or deserving people e.g. people with physical or mental disabilities.

WagesBarchester Healthcare Foundation

Barchester Healthcare Foundation's mission is to make a difference to the lives of older people and other adults with a physical or mental disability, supporting practical solutions that lead to increased personal independence, self-sufficiently and dignity. They fund: 

  • Older people 65+
  • Adults (18+) with a physical disability
  • Adults (18+) with a mental disability

Help the Homeless Grants 

Help the Homeless offer grants of up to £3,000 for capital costs to small and medium sized charities.  All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society rather than simply offer shelter or other forms of sustenance. PoundsWellcome Trust Arts Awards

All art forms are covered by the Wellcome Trust Arts Awards - dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography and digital media.  The trust awards grants to small and medium-sized projects (up to and including £30,000) that engage adult audiences and/or young people. For more information visit the Wellcome Trust website or call 0207 611 7222. The next deadline for applications is 27 January 2012. 

moneyJ Paul Getty Jnr. Trust

The trust funds well-managed projects that help to relieve poverty and support disadvantaged people.

 

Main grant - between £10,000 and £250,000 over a period of 1 to 3 years.

Small grant - of up to £5,000 for smaller charities. .

 

They are currently inviting applications from registered charities in the following areas: 

  • Reducing reoffending - smooth the transition for those leaving prison.
  • Improving prospects - supporting young people (14-19) to improve their employability and work to improve the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Repairing communities- projects led from within the community with the aim of integrating different social and ethnic groups in pursuit of worthwhile goals.
  • Repairing lives - projects making an impact on the lives of people with substance misuse problems, projects helping people who are homeless.
  • Preserving heritage - conserving or restoring buildings.
  • Sustaining the arts- nurturing and developing artistic endeavour of the highest quality.

VAT exemption for VCS groups that share services.

The Government has confirmed it will introduce a VAT exemption for VCS organisations that wish to share back-office services, removing the additional VAT charge that can arise when some organisations collaborate.
