New Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) Briefing
A new step-by-step briefing on the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) framework has been launched, which relates to planning on future healthcare provision for communities. The briefing can be downloaded from the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) website.
The JSNA pulls together all the relevant information about a community, including population data, levels of smoking, housing quality, and importantly, the views of its residents. This picture is then used to plan future provision, to ensure that the community has the health and social care services it requires.
It is particularly important that voluntary and community groups take an active part in the JSNA process, as they often have the best understanding of what their community needs and can provide specialist services to support particular groups. By making contact with their local Health and Wellbeing Board, and taking an active part in the JSNA, they can ensure the needs of every part of the community are considered.
RSPH will shortly be offering a range of tailored seminars for health professionals and VCS organisations to support them as they develop their JSNAs. For further information email RSPH or visit the RSPH website. |

Social Mobility and Child Poverty Call for Evidence
The Government has appointed Alan Milburn as Independent Reviewer of Social Mobility and Child Poverty, pending the establishment of a statutory Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission next year. A Call for Evidence has gone out to help inform a report which will be issued next spring.
The Call for Evidence explores questions around how child poverty and social mobility are linked, and the examples of how projects can be set up and expanded and progress measured on these issues. Your responses will help the Independent Review to build recommendations for what action Government, and wider civil society, should take in order to raise social mobility and tackle child poverty. To take part in the call for evidence visit the Cabinet Office website. |
