moneyVoluntary Sector Development Fund Grants 

Applications are now being sought for grants from the Voluntary Sector Development Fund for amounts up to £5,000.

 

Due to the current economic climate, many organisations are finding it hard to find funding to allow them to redesign and/or develop new services.  This is an opportunity for you to apply for non-recurrent funding for amounts up to £5,000.

 

Applications should be received no later than 29 July 2011.

moneyTesco Community Awards
Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000 to local projects that support children and their education and welfare, elderly people and adults and children with disabilities.  The deadline for applications is 30 June.  For more information visit the Tesco website or call 0845 612 3575.
   
Derby City Council VCS Grant Aid 

A reminder that DCC launched their open grants funding programme for voluntary and community organisations on 16 May.  Applications for grant aid from Adults Health and Housing Social Services and for Arts grants will be open between 16 May and 24 June 2011.  The closing date and time for completed applications will be Friday 24 June at 12 noon.

moneyDerby Youth Opportunity Fund

Derby Youth Opportunity Fund empowers young people and gives them more choice and influence over services and provision for young people.  The funding is available for projects for young people aged 13 to 19 - up to 25 for those with learning difficulties/disabilities - with a particular focus on disadvantaged young people and early intervention. 

 

Who can apply for the funds? Applications must involve young people in deciding on activities and coming up with ideas of things to do.  Adult workers may provide support for young people in completing section 4 of the application form.  Applications can be submitted from constituted groups from any sector but are not accepted from schools wishing to undertake projects in school time or projects only benefiting the school students.  The maximum amount that can be applied for is £3,000.

moneyThe Elephant Trust

The Elephant Trust offers grants to artists and institutions for new, innovative visual arts projects based in the UK.  The trust's aim is to make it possible for artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when confronted by lack of funds. 

 

The trust supports projects that develop and improve the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the fine arts.  Priority is being given to artists and small organisations and galleries who would submit well argued, imaginative proposals for making or producing new work or exhibitions.  Arts festivals are not supported.  The Trust normally awards grants of up to £2000.  The next deadlines

are 28 June 2011 and 10 October 2011.

moneyThe True Colours Trust

The True Colours Trust provides grants to small, UK based organisations to carry out projects that provide help to disabled children and their families on a daily basis.  The trust has a small grants programme open to applications at any time, that provides grants of up to £10,000, usually for one-off projects and delivery programmes for children, their siblings and families.  The trustees are particularly keen to support: 

 

Hydrotherapy pools.

Multi sensory rooms.

Mini buses.

Young carers projects.

Sibling projects.

Bereavement support.

moneyAdult and Community Learning Fund

The Adult and Community Learning Fund aims to help make the Big Society a reality and contribute to the Government's aspirations for informal adult and community learning.  Organisations from across England can bid for their share of £2.25 million from this fund for new and imaginative adult and community learning opportunities that engage and motivate, in particular, disadvantaged adults.  The maximum amount for any bid is £75,000 and the minimum is £10,000.  Key themes of this fund include:

 

Support of better mental or physical health and enhancing financial capability.

Involvement and enhancement of both volunteers and the engagement of voluntary organisations.

Widening access to digital and other important skills.

Building stronger families.

moneyPeter Cruddas Foundation

If you're a registered charity that helps disadvantaged young people into pathways towards education, training or employment you can apply to this foundation. 

 

Current funding streams are:

 

Pathways/support for young disadvantaged or disaffected people into education, training or employment.

Crime diversion schemes.

Work experience/skills projects for young people.

moneyNationwide Small Grants Programme

The Nationwide Small Grants Programme is currently open to support registered charities offering financial and/or housing related support to survivors of domestic abuse or older people.  Grants are from £500 to £5,000. 

 

The funding aims:

 

To tackle financial exclusion affecting disadvantaged groups across the UK.

To address housing issues and homelessness among vulnerable groups across the UK.

moneyCommunity Voices Grants 

The Media Trust has opened Community Voices, a grassroots grants scheme offering funding, training and support to communities isolated and disempowered by age, long-term illness or disability.  The grant scheme, now in its second run, offers grants of £500 to up to seven grassroots groups representing these communities.  Successful applicants will also be offered advice and training from the Media Trust in an effort to empower and make a difference in the lives of the socially excluded via the use of digital media.

Sport EnglandSport England

Sport England have launched their £10 million Protecting Playing Fields fund, part of the Places People Play mass participation legacy.  The new fund will see hundreds of sports playing fields across the country protected and improved.  Five £2 million funding rounds will run over the next three years, investing between £20,000 and £50,000 to help:

 

Bring disused playing fields back into use.

Improve the condition of pitches.

Buy new playing field land.

Buy existing playing field land where there is a known threat.

 

Applications for round one of Protecting Playing Fields will be accepted via the Sport England website between 25 May and 6 July 2011.  For further information on applying visit  the Sport England website or call 08458 508508.

Funding Central - this is a comprehensive funding search website that is managed by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.  You can search for grants, contracts and loan finance for your charity, voluntary organisation or social enterprise.  There are several sections to the website:

 

·         Support and advice.

·         A partner zone for groups looking for partners to connect for joint funding bids.

·         Funding deadlines.

·         Other funding related resources.

 

Funderfinder asks very detailed questions to ensure you get the funding you are looking for, so it does take longer to register but you will get more tailored results.  To get started fill in the registration form and then begin your funding search.  For more details visit the Funding Central website.
