Derby City Partnership News
Vision and Sustainable CommunityStrategy
There was a positive response to the 3 wishes consultation with over 2,500 wish cards returned.  Work is currently in progress to analyse the feedback ready for the Leadership Visioning session on 6 September.  A dual process will be carried out from this date to progress both the strategic vision and priorities alongside the practical processes for delivery planning and structure review of the Partnership.

Children and Young People
The next meeting on 13 September will be a visioning session for the 2011 to 2014 Children and Young People's Plan and will also focus on what the arrangements for the Children's Trust will be in the future.  The session will be facilitated by Dawn Reeves.

Healthy City
The new NHS white paper will have a major impact on how health services are commissioned and public health is delivered in the city. Some of the statutory health improvement responsibilities will transfer to the local authority.

A new Public Health Service will be established, further details to be issued by the government later this year.
Local Directors of Public Health will be jointly appointed by local authorities and the Public Health service

The next meeting ofthe Executive is 22 September.

Cultural City
The next meeting will be on 8 September.  The meeting will focus on starting the process of developing a new Cultural Strategy and planning a stakeholder event for this in October.

Year of Culture 2017.  Origination has been appointed as the design company to develop the branding for the bid.  An event is planned for October to update supporters on progress.
A new Director of Leisure and Cultural Services has been appointed with a start date yet to be agreed.

Stronger, Safer, Cleaner City
Currently awaiting the arrival of the new Community Safety Partnership Director - Karen Johnson.

A questionnaire has been sent to sub-group members on the need for, and purpose of, the sub-groups and how they link to the wider Stronger Safer Cleaner Communities partnership.

Derby Renaissance Board (DRB)
City Growth Executive no longer exists but it needs to be formally closed.
DRB membership includes strategic representatives from local partner organisations and still includes the third sector.  Structure and Terms of Reference have been agreed with five sub-groups under the DRB Board.

Current work is on the Local Economic Partnership (LEP) arrangements and the need to settle these quickly.  LEPs have to be made up of 50% private sector members.  The DRB will be Derby's element of the Derbyshire, Derby, Nottinghamshire, Nottingham LEP that has been proposed.  More details are still needed about the Regional Growth Fund but LEPs will have to fund their own functioning themselves.

The next meeting is 1 October, there will be a half-day development session in November.

State of the City Forum
The next Forum meeting on Tuesday 19 October will be run by Voices in Action. They are currently working on the format of the event which will be held at QUAD and will focus on the participation of young people.

FestivalDerby Feste
This year Derby Feste will take place from 24 to 26 September. The three-day festival  will bring a variety of international and local artists together for a feast of live performances. Since Derby Festé first appeared in 2007, locals and visitors alike have seen fire-breathing dragons roaming the streets of Derby, daring acrobats performing death-defying stunts, and the entire city centre brought to life by street parties and live bands.

Not surprisingly, Derby Festé has quickly become the annual highlight of the city's events calendar - and the 2010 event will build on the success and popularity of previous years, to offer an even bigger, bolder and internationally acclaimed programme of entertainment. The theme of this year's event is 'Colour and Light'.

The festival as a whole will get under way on Friday evening - 24 September - with an outdoor disco in the city's market place.  For more details on this year's Derby Feste visit the Derby Feste website.
