Listen: Value: Invest
One East Midlands is backing a national campaign called Listen: Value: Invest. The campaign calls upon decision makers to commit to listening, valuing and investing in the sector. The campaign is asking all those connected with the voluntary and community sector to sign the Listen: Value: Invest declaration, which calls for the coalition government and other decision-makers to commit to listen to, value and invest in people, communities and the voluntary and community sector. Listen: Value: Invest is based on case studies that demonstrate the sector supporting individuals, transforming communities and delivering tangible economic benefits. This powerful combination of personal stories linked to genuine economic benefits will show decision makers that the work of the voluntary and community sector delivers real value.

Warning to Voluntary Organisations
Voluntary sector organisations that run public services should be aware of the pitfalls encountered by housing associations, according to a new report: Housing Associations in England and the Future of Voluntary Organisations.
The report says that housing associations have lost their independence and their role as campaigning organisations has diminished as a result of assuming responsibility for housing provision and the need to respond to government targets and demands. The report, funded by the Baring Foundation and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, focuses on the timely question of what happens to voluntary organisations if they take over the mass delivery of state services.
