Evaluation of NAVCA's Voice Work
NAVCA logo
NAVCA has published an independent report that looks into the value placed on NAVCA's voice work.  Voice work is what NAVCA do to represent the views of its members and the local voluntary and community sector to national bodies and help national bodies communicate with local groups.  Kevin Curley, NAVCA Chief Executive, said: "The most important part of this report is seeing how we can improve further. The public spending cuts will mean it is more important than ever that NAVCA puts forward the case to government for supporting voluntary and community action."  For more information visit the NAVCA website.
Skills Strategy Consultation

Skills Third Sector want to make sure that the importance of skills and learning are understood and supported effectively, so that the sector can meet the rising demands about what it can and should deliver.   They would like you to contribute to the development of a national skills strategy for the voluntary sector.  The online consultation will be available from 9 July for more information or to take part in the consultation visit the Skills Third Sector website.
Management of Volunteer Standards
Volunteering England logo
Volunteering England have launched two volunteer management initiatives, a Volunteer Management Portal and the Value Volunteer Management Campaign.  This means that, for the first time, information on support, training and development opportunities for people managing volunteers is available to view in one single place.

If you work with volunteers, or know someone who does, this invaluable new resource will help you locate a wide variety of training providers and consultants, support and development opportunities.

You can also find out more information about volunteer management from Skills Third Sector which links to the 'Management of Volunteers' National Occupational Standards.  Visit the Skills Third Sector website
for more resources.

The next issue of Your City, Your Voice will be out in the first week of August.  We are always happy to receive feedback and comments so please let us know what you think.
