Grassroots Grants
Derbyshire Community Foundation (DCF) distributes grants to voluntary groups whose aims are to tackle disadvantage and enhance community life in Derby and Derbyshire. If you are a group based in Derby in need of funds for a specific project or for running costs you may be eligible to apply to the Grassroots Grants fund that is being administered by DCF. To apply your group must have an annual income of below £30,000. Your group must also have been running for over 12 months. World's Biggest Networking Event
Community Action Derby are holding the World's Biggest Networking Event on Wednesday 30 June at the Carriage Shop Theatre, Derby College, Roundhouse Road, Derby, DE24 8JE from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Come along and exchange your news, views and ideas with other voluntary organisations and community groups. Carers Roadshow
Derbyshire Learning Disability Partnership Board are holding a Carers Road Show on Thursday 10 June 2010 at the Postmill Centre, South Normanton.
There will be opportunities to ask questions about employment or housing, either for yourself as a family carer or on behalf of the person you care for. If you are a person with learning disabilities who is wondering about issues related to work and benefits you could also come along and ask your questions.
There will be displays from Job Centre Plus; Mencap; Welfare Rights; Connexions; DCIL and Transition among others.

Have Your Say on Policing
Have Your Say was introduced as a way to find out what the public think about the police service in Derbyshire and is the largest public consultation exercise undertaken by Derbyshire Police Authority and Derbyshire Constabulary.
Events are being held at various locations across the county for people to give their views on neighbourhood policing and public confidence in the police service. Views and opinions will be recorded in a one to one questionnaire.

Youth Volunteering Survey 2010
The Youth Action Team, part of the vinvolved Derby city volunteering team, have put together a survey to capture young people's views on volunteering. The information from the results of the survey will be used to develop youth volunteering in Derby.
The survey is open to all young people between the ages of 16 and 25. All completed surveys will be put into a prize draw for a chance to win a £20 HMV voucher.

Humanism - a Seminar
Derby Open Centre is holding a seminar on Humanism on Monday 7 June. If you have ever wanted to find out more about this subject then this is your chance to come along and ask questions.
Humanism is not a religion, it has no supernatural elements, no god and no belief in an afterlife, and it does not require a 'faith' other than putting your fellow humans first in the one life we share together.
Mike Lake, one of the Open Centre's Trustee Directors, will look at the history of Humanism and what it means to the millions of people who are Humanists.

East Midlands Funding Advice Network
One East Midlands is now the new home of EMFAN, the East Midlands Funding Advice Network, a multi-sector network of people involved in giving funding advice to voluntary and community groups. The network aims to strengthen advice services through networking, training and improved communication between groups, advice workers and funders. Speed Volunteering!
Volunteers Week takes place from 1 to 7 June and to celebrate the Volunteer Centre are holding a Speed Volunteering event on Thursday 3 June at The Spot Conference Centre in Derby. There will also be a Volunteering Fair in the main hall to allow members of the public to browse stalls while waiting to take part in the speed event. FREE Mental Health Awareness Training
Southern Derbyshire Voluntary Sector Mental Health Forum is offering a full day of Mental Health Awareness Training FREE to member organisations of SDVSMHF and NDVA. The training takes place on Tuesday 25 May from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm
at Coney Green Business Centre, Clay Cross and will include lunch. The course will develop understanding and knowledge of: What is meant by mental health and mental illness; The impact of mental illness on the individual, family and friends; and The impact of the stigma and assumptions that are widely held.
