Derby City Partnership Round Up
Sustainable Community Strategy
Derby City Partnership is currently reviewing its Sustainable Community Strategy. They are taking this opportunity to review their long-term vision and a city-wide consultation will take place over the next couple of months.  The aim of the consultation is to find out what the public and partners aspirations are for Derby over the next 15 to 20 years. There will be lots of opportunities to have your say in shaping the vision, so look out for events and get involved!

City for Stronger and Safer Communities
Derby Community Safety Partnership has invested a further £7,500 into the city centre's successful Taxi Marshalling scheme, part of a range of initiatives designed to reduce violent disorder and anti-social behaviour.

Derbyshire Probation Service Trust was launched on Tuesday 23 March.

The Director of the Community Safety Partnership, Sharon Squires, has left to join Sheffield Local Strategic Partnership as Director.

City Growth
The European Regional Development Fund call for funding applications went out and is now closed.  The applications will be scored and prioritised by the sub groups.

A newly constituted private sector led 'Derby Renaissance Board' plans to replace City Growth Executive whilst incorporating the strategic functions of City Growth Executive, Derby City Board and Marketing Derby Board.

A Regeneration Fund has been approved by Cabinet.

Healthy City
A new version of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment has been launched. To read the document in full visit the NHS website

An action plan has been created to address the underperformance on the Local Area Agreement National Indicator NI39; Alcohol related hospital admissions.

City for Children and Young People
The final 2009 NEET (not in Education, Employment or Training) figure for 16 to 18 year olds shows that 600 more young people are now in education, employment or training. It is a fantastic partnership achievement particularly in light of the current economic climate and unemployment rates.

A successful stakeholder event was held on 5 March to kick off the creation of the 2010-11 action plan to deliver the 2008-11 Children and Young People's Plan.  Outcome Groups set out their Initial priorities and the detail of each will be developed for sign off at the May Executive.  A supporting document has been produced to give the data context against the 5 Every Child Matters themes.

Think Family update: Derby is progressing well with the development of this Government initiative, including two pilot projects planned for April to September within the Targeted Mental Health in Schools project and the Gangs multi-agency team. There was also a good uptake of the Parenting Early Intervention Programme, a national parenting course. An initiative called Respect Parenting Practitioners was also established to offer 1 to 1 support and group sessions to parents referred through the Youth Offending Service.

National Audit Office Launches Vital Resource
National Audit office
The National Audit Office has launched a new version of 'Successful Commissioning: How to secure value for money through better financial relationships with third sector organisations'.  It is aimed at local commissioners, rather than central government, making it extremely useful for members. Crucially, it supports a continued role for grant funding.  The online launch on 17 March included a video featuring Katy Wing, NAVCA Director, Improving Local Services. Click here here for more information.

'Shaping our Future' - an environmental issues report
green earth
The Government has published a report entitled 'Shaping our future'.  The report is a vision of how Government and third sector organisations will work together to tackle key environmental issues such as climate change and sustainable development.  The report highlights a range of actions and commitments from Capacitybuilders which feed in to the jointly agreed vision for 2015, that 'the third sector shapes the future by mobilising and inspiring others to tackle climate change and maximising the social, economic and environmental opportunities of action.'  Click to read more about the report or you can download a copy.

The next issue of Your City, Your Voice will be out in the first week of May.  We are always happy to receive feedback and comments so please let us know what you think.
