A date for your diary and a survey!

The date for your diary is 24 March 2010. On this date we will be holding the first forum for all voluntary and community groups in Derby called Your Sector, Your Say.

To find out the needs and priorities of voluntary and community groups in the city we would like you to take part in a short survey. The outcome of the survey will inform the Your Sector Your Say forum - so this really is a chance for you to get your issues in the spotlight.

You can fill out the survey online or visit the Community Action  website, download a copy and email it back or print it off and post it back to us.

The Your Sector, Your Say forum will be held on 24 March 2010 at the new YMCA building on London Road, Derby. The outcomes from the forum will then be refined into an Action Plan for the voluntary and community sector in Derby. To book your place at 'Your Sector, Your Say' please email Abigail Steanson or call 01332 346266.

Please take five minutes to complete this questionnaire - it will help to determine the priorities for the future of voluntary and community organisations in the city.

volunteer managementVolunteering Fund
The Volunteering Fund, which replaces the Department of Health's Opportunities for Volunteering scheme, has been launched. The fund will offer grants to support volunteering in health and social care in England.

The Volunteering Fund will offer a local grant scheme to support volunteering in health and social care, for which applicants should be connected at a local level to commissioners (e.g. Primary Care Trust, Local Authority).

The strategic priorities for the fund are:
better health and well-being for all;
better care for all; and
better value for all.

The fund will also look at how the projects link with the Department of Health Volunteering Strategy, to encourage good practice in volunteering in the areas of:
Leadership;
Partnership working;
Commissioning;
Management; and
Support for individual volunteers.

Around £5 million will be distributed as grants across 2010 to 2012. Grants are available for up to three years, with a package of grant funding and business support being offered to organisations.
Local projects can be funded up to £35,000. It is expected that around 55 local projects will be funded in 2010 and again in 2011.
