Make a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day is the UK's largest day of volunteering. It is coordinated by the charity Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and takes place on the last Saturday of October every year; this year it falls on 31 October with activities taking place from 24 October to 7 November. Last year over 60,000 volunteers got involved by giving their time to make a positive difference in their communities. The message for this year's campaign is kindness - that helping others and taking an active role in your community is more important than ever in the uncertain times that we face today. CSV offer free resources, including a handbook and action packs with t-shirts, certificates and balloons to help people volunteer in their communities. You can be part of this fantastic day - whether you're looking to recruit long-term volunteers or just fancy changing something in your community, this is your opportunity to make a difference and have fun at the same time! To register an activity for the day or for more information call 0800 284 533, email or visit the website |

Regional Equality and Diversity Partnership
An exciting development is taking place in the East Midlands. After recognising that the East Midlands is the only region without a regional equality partnership, funding has been secured to form the East Midlands Regional Equality and Diversity Partnership (REDP). The development of the partnership is now underway.
The project is appointing four equality officers to be based in the different organisations that make up the core partnership, namely Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living; The Race Equality Centre; Leicester Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Centre; and the Council of Faiths. Each partner will be responsible for organising events in key geographical areas of the region.
The programme of events will take place over the next four months. They will provide up to date information on the Equality Bill whilst seeking your input into the development of the Regional Equality and Diversity Partnership.
