Welfare to Work Programmes - Update
As most of our members know, the current New Deal
programme ends this week and Flexible New Deal begins from Monday. Everyone at Community Action Derby would like to thank all of our providers who have supported New Deal customers during their placements and helped them to move towards sustainable employment. We couldn't have delivered the programme over the past 11 years without you, and your involvement is greatly appreciated.

We are now looking forward to delivering Flexible New Deal through A4E. The Flexible New Deal team will be contacting you directly over the next few weeks and months to encourage you to be involved in hosting 4 week work experience placements for unemployed people.  We will be on-hand to work with you and the individual, with the same aim in mind - real employment.

Complementing this programme is our contract to deliver the Future Jobs Fund in Derby City; an initiative to help 18 to 24 year olds by creating new jobs in the public and voluntary and community sectors.  For more information about this initiative, please visit our website

Finally, we have been working very hard behind the scenes campaigning to ensure the continued involvement of our members in the Government's welfare to work programmes. More support contracts are being announced and we have made sure Community Action and our members are included as potential subcontractors with the organisations who are bidding for large geographical contracts.  As soon as we know the Government's decision on who will be their preferred supplier we will let you know!  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Rachel Hayward, Business Development Director, on 01332 227714 or email

Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to increase the engagement of the voluntary and community sector in Government programmes and secure a fair price for us all.
