forum2Special Management Forum - Book Now!
We are delighted to confirm that the Charities Evaluation Service has agreed to deliver a special management forum for our members. This additional session will concentrate on Social Return on Investment (SROI) and how we can measure this.

SROI is a way to measure and account for the value your organisation creates. It is relatively new, but there is currently a lot of interest in the approach, especially from funders and government.

This session is for people new to SROI who would like to learn more about it and may be considering it for their organisation. Participants attending this session need some knowledge of outcomes.

To find out more about SROI, including links to publications, visit the SROI Network website

The forum will be held on Friday 23 October 2009, 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Community Action Derby, 4 Charnwood Street, Derby, DE1 2GT.

Places are limited to 35 people, so early booking is advised.  A booking fee of £15 per person is required to reserve a place. This will be refunded to you on attendance. If you are unable to attend and cancel by 9 October this fee will be returned to you. The booking fee will not be returned if you cancel after this date or do not attend on the day.

This event is tailored particularly for organisations within the voluntary and community sector, but local authority and health colleagues are welcome.

From 12 October 2009, new measures will be introduced by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) to help prevent unsuitable people from undertaking paid or volunteer work with children or vulnerable adults. This is the new Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS).

For everyone following the scheme, here are some key dates for your calendars:

12 October 2009
Vetting and Barring Scheme launches; individuals who usually apply for standard CRB checks to work with children and vulnerable adults should apply for enhanced CRB checks instead
26 July 2010
Online ISA registration launches; new employees, those moving jobs and volunteers who want to work with children or vulnerable adults can register with the ISA
November 2010
All new employees and volunteers must register before they start work; it will be illegal to recruit people within regulated activity who are not ISA-registered

To communicate the message, ISA has produced a Vetting and Barring Scheme toolkit which you can access by clicking here  For further information and resources visit the ISA website

Reaching Communities funds projects that help people and communities who are most in need and can really make a difference. Projects can be new or existing activities, or be the core work of your organisation.
