Future Jobs Fund - Employers Needed!
Community Action has won a tender to deliver the Future Jobs Fund programme in Derby city. From October 2009, with the support of local employers, we aim to create 212 jobs. We are now looking for employers to come forward and register their interest in creating a job for a local person who is aged 18 to 24 years old and has been unemployed for at least 9 months. The young person will be referred from Jobcentre Plus (self referrals are not permitted) and staff at Community Action Derby will work with them to match them to a suitable job. This is a very exciting project which could lead to more bids in the future, but to make it a success we need local employers to come forward. So, if you can create a suitable vacancy for a young person, have someone available to supervise them regularly, can provide this for 6 months at 25 hours per week at National Minimum Wage, we want to hear from you! In return, we will match you with suitable candidates that you can interview first before agreeing to take on, provide you with ongoing support during the 6 months and cover your wage costs as well as providing £1000 contribution to your supervision costs. For more information and to download a registration form please visit our website. To dicuss any jobs you may have please email Rachel Hayward or telephone 01332 227714. |

Wanted:Your Views on Recession
Derby City Partnership city theme groups: Cultural City; Healthy City; City for Children and Young People; City Growth; and City for Stronger and Safer Communities are preparing information on the impact and response to the recession in Derby. Some of the city theme groups will be discussing the issue next week and providing a strategic overview for a final report. They would be grateful for information from the third sector to support this work. The key points to consider are: An overview of the impact of the recession on your work area/s; Any new activities or initiatives you have undertaken in 2009/10 in response to the recession; Any services that have been re-focused to counteract the recession; Any planned activities or initiatives that you anticipate for 2010/2011 in preparation for an on-going downturn; and Any early indications or trends of other potential impacts on your work areas due to the recession. Your views and comments are greatly appreciated. Please send any feedback to Sue Jacklin no later than 9:00 am on Wednesday 9 September 2009.

Special Management Forum - Book Now!
We are delighted to confirm that the Charities Evaluation Service has agreed to deliver a special management forum for our members. This additional session will concentrate on Social Return on Investment (SROI) and how we can measure this. SROI is a way to measure and account for the value your organisation creates. It is relatively new, but there is currently a lot of interest in the approach, especially from funders and government. This session is for people new to SROI who would like to learn more about it and may be considering it for their organisation. Participants attending this session need some knowledge of outcomes. To find out more about SROI, including links to publications, visit the SROI Network website
Th forum will be held on Friday 23 October 2009, 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Community Action Derby, 4 Charnwood Street, Derby, DE1 2GT. Places are limited to 35 people, so early booking is advised. A booking fee of £15 per person is required to reserve a place. This will be refunded to you on attendance. If you are unable to attend and cancel by 9 October this fee will be returned to you. The booking fee will not be returned if you cancel after this date or do not attend on the day. This event is tailored particularly for organisations within the voluntary and community sector, but local authority and health colleagues are welcome. For further information please visit our website For a booking form and to reserve a place, please email Rebecca Johnson or telephone 01332 346266 |
