Is your community or voluntary group involved with social enterprise, worklessness or the environment?
 
Or, does your group deal with criminal justice, community empowerment or community cohesion?
 
Community Action is holding two meetings for the above groups to establish a network as part of  the 3rd Sector Partnership Project
The meetings will give you an opportunity to
express your
 opinions and ideas.
 
The meeting for social enterprise, worklessness and the environment
will be held on 20 July starting with lunch at 12:30 pm,  followed by the meeting from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. 
 
The meeting for criminal justice, community empowerment and social cohesion will be held on 21 July from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by lunch.

A Day in the Life....
'A Day in the Life'
is a work shadowing scheme that provides a chance for staff in central Government and the the voluntary and community sector to step into each others shoes for a day and find out how the 'other side' works. Organised by the Department for Communities and Local Government, the NCVO Policy Forum and Compact Voice, it is open to all voluntary and community sector staff in England. The closing date for applications is 7 August.

Welcome to the latest issue of Reach Out. This week we have news of the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT awards and details of new facilities for voluntary and community organisations in Derby, as well as important news about how you can shape the future of the city.

IMPACT Awards IMPACT awards
Would you like to receive an award of up to £35,000 in unrestricted funding and high level recognition for your work?
GlaxoSmithKline's IMPACT Awards are designed to recognise and reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people's health.
 
The awards are open to registered charities that are at least three years old, working in a health related field in the UK, with a total annual income between £10,000 and £1 million. They are designed to recognise success and achievement for existing work.
 
Winners in 2008 were Community Action members, Women's Work, who provide advice and support for vulnerable women involved in street sex work and substance misuse in Derby through both outreach work and a drop-in centre.

New Facilities on Offer! St Chads 
St Chad's Centre is a charitable organisation based in Normanton offering facilities and resources to voluntary
and community organisations in the local area. For many years the centre was known as the Number One Community Project.
 
The centre offers rooms and facilities for hire to groups who
give advice or support to people. They help a range of individuals from different backgrounds and cultures, people with learning difficulties and disabled people.
 
The centre are pleased to offer their new facilities to local voluntary and community organisations. They have extended their facilities to include a new garden with soft play area, ideal for work with children, and a conservatory with direct access to the garden, together with a kitchen and disabled toilet.

Peter Cruddas Foundation 
PCruddasThe Peter Cruddas Foundation was first registered in December 2006 and during that time in excess of £11million has already been donated or committed to some 50 charitable causes.The foundation gives priority to programmes designed to help disadvantaged and disengaged young people to pursue their education (including vocational). Preference is given to the support of projects undertaken by charitable organisations for the benefit of such people.

CashFunding Central
Funding Central is a website with access to over 4,000 grants, contracts and loans for the voluntary and community sector.
Since it's launched on 17 June Funding Central has proved to be a hit for thousands of organisations. Over 3,000 people have registered on the site to take advantage of  thousands of funding and finance opportunities enabling them to increase their financial sustainability.
