The programme will be delivered via three inter-connected strands:
Strand A (£1.6 million to March 2011) grants will be targeted to around 25 local volunteering development organisations, to help them provide outreach and other direct support services to people who manage volunteers, particularly those who
may not know about or access existing provision;
Strand B grant (£200,000 to March 2011) is directed at the national strategic support of volunteer management. Work will be coordinated via the existing Modernising Volunteering national support service, managed by Volunteering England; and

Has your organisation committed to the Skills Pledge yet? You will probably have seen lots of publicity around the Skills Pledge recently, but may not know much about it.

Today training is more important than ever. Improving the skills of your staff during the economic downturn is the best way to ensure organisations are as resilient as possible. It is estimated that 15 per cent of organisations currently suffer from skills gaps. If we don't bridge these gaps, our economy will shrink and our standard of living will fall.

The Skills Pledge aims to achieve a shared understanding of the value of training and encourage businesses to invest in skills accordingly
To find out more about signing up to the Skills Pledge email Rosie Slater or telephone 01332 265965
