Grants Up For Grabs!
 
Big Lottery Fund has teamed up with Channel 4 to create the Secret Millionaire Fund which will allow applicants to nominate
 a community project they think would benefit from funding, or apply directly themselves.
 
 Grants ranging from £300 to £10,000 are available to local community groups, schools, parish councils and health bodies to show their charitable side and carry out much-needed projects in their area.

Interactive Videos Show the Way
 
Now the moves from the DRI to the City Hospital are complete Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has created informative videos to help patients find their way around the new hospital. The interactive videos allow patients and visitors to learn more about their local facilities before visiting them. To view the videos visit the website and click on interactive maps.

July Training Courses
Addaction are holding two training courses in Derby in July.
 
Working with Pregnancy and Substance Mis-use is a one day course being held on Tuesday 7 July  - the cost is £85 per person;
 
Foundation Brief Solution Focused Therapy is a two day course being held on Wednesday 8 July and Thursday 9 July - the cost is £165 per person.

UniversityEver Considered a Career in Counselling?

CounsellingDerby University are offering a MSc in Integrative Counselling Practice, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Calling all Budding Film Stars! 
 
Are you involved with youth groups? Are your members aged between 16 and 25? Would you and your group like to appear in a film?
The Youth Action Team are working with a professional film maker, to produce a film about Youth Volunteering in Derby, and are interested to hear from any groups who would like to be part of this exciting project.  The aim of the film is to inspire, encourage and motivate young people to get involved in volunteering. If you are interested in taking part please email Simon Hancox or telephone 01332 227718 by 3 June 2009.
      
National Tackling Drugs Week - 8 to 12 June 2009 

The aim of National Tackling Drugs Week is to raise awareness of the work being undertaken by agencies to tackle drugs, reduce drug-related crime and highlight the significant efforts that are being made in communities.    
First Forum, an independent, voluntary, self-help organisation, that empowers those whose lives have been affected by drugs are holding a one day seminar on Tuesday 9 June. The seminar is FREE to charities, community groups and local residents. If you would like to find out more about

Be Inspired during DCP Week
Inspiring Derby 2009 week, organised by Derby
City Partnership, takes place from Monday 22 June to Sunday 28 June. The week is packed full of events (most of them FREE) including: a tour of Royal Crown Derby; a Strictly Come Bollywood dancing workshop; photography walks; craft workshops; and a look camerabehind the scenes at Kedleston Hall to name but a few. National Refugee Week - 15 to 21 June 2009
 
Refugee WeekThe National Coalition Building Institute are celebrating National Refugee Week with a workshop on Tuesday 23 June. The Welcoming Diversity and Prejudice Reduction Workshop will explore the issues faced by refugees and people seeking asylum. For more information and to book your place email the NCBI or telephone 0115 958 2842. BME Groups: How is the Recession Affecting You? 
 
Derby Millennium Network, in conjunction with the BME Alliance for the East Midlands, are undertaking a project to assess the impact of the recession on the BME voluntary and community sector. 
 
If you are a BME group they really want to hear from you to help you to use the recession as an opportunity to create sustainable, thriving BME organisations. To participate in the project please click on the link to take part in a five minute survey.

Celebrate your Rolls Royce logoCity! 
Come along to an exciting day packed with activities and entertainment at Derby University in Kedleston Road. The fun begins at 12:00 noon on Saturday 27 June with a 6 mile walk fDancerrom Pride Park to Kedleston Road. The walk is the idea of Sir Christopher Ball, former Derby University Chancellor, who pledged to walk the perimeter of the City to 'be inspiring'. The celebrations at the University run from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with entertainment from local bands, dance groups and performers. 
 
The event has been organised by graduate trainees at Rolls Royce, on behalf of Derby CityGuitar Partnership as part of Inspiring Derby  2009. The event is FREE and suitable for everyone. Transport from Derby University to the start of the walk at Pride Park is FREE but must be booked in advance by calling 01332 255627.
 
This promises to be a fun day with activities and entertainment for all ages. See you there!
