Support is being offered to local companies that want to do business with Derbyshire County Council.

Hundreds of contracts are up for grabs to supply a huge range of services to the authority - from pencils to print, stones to spuds and vehicles to vending machines. Two free workshops are also being offered to local firms to tell them everything they need to know about tendering for the council's business.

They will be held on:
Thursday 21 May at Tapton Park Innovation Centre, Brimington Road, Chesterfield
Tuesday 16 June at Swadlincote Adult Community Education Centre, Rink Drive

The 'Tendering for Work' sessions will be held from 9.30 am to 12.15 pm each day and will offer practical help on bidding for county council contracts.

To book a space on one of the workshops please e-mail with the name of the business and contact details quoting either Tapton or Swadlincote by 14 May.

Wanted: Your Views on
Alzheimers Care
The Alzheimer's Society is asking for your views on the quality of care that dementia patients receive when they are admitted to hospital and the challenges that health care professionals face. They are asking people to share their experiences by filling out a questionnaire by the end of May 2009.

They would like to hear from anyone whose lives are touched by dementia including people with dementia and carers, nursing staff and nurse managers or ward managers. All information will be treated confidentially and you do not have to give your name. The survey results will be published later in the year.

The questionnaire can be downloaded from the Society's website and returned to Louise Lakey by email, or by posting it to: Louise Lakey, Devon House, 58 St Katharine's Way, London, E1W 1JX.
Alternatively, a copy of the questionnaire and a pre-paid envelope for returning it can be requested from Louise on 020 7423 3581 or click here to email.

Westfield DerbyMeet at Westfield
Westfield could be a potential venue for your regular meetings, outings or refreshment stops.
They are looking at introducing a booking system for local groups, clubs and organisations to enable you to pre-book space in one of our many cafés or restaurants to hold your meeting or social gathering.  They could guarantee a seat for everyone in the group, at a suitable time/date, and may be able to offer discount on your bill.  You could select a favourite café or eating place to meet in, or, if you just can't choose between them all, we could give some suggestions of suitable venues or places you might not have tried before - providing menus in advance if required.

Plus, if your group or club requires additional space for activities or equipment (e.g. an extra table for your knitting bags or space nearby to park your buggies!) then this could also be arranged.  Westfield Derby hold regular events and activities in the centre - e.g. fashion shows, children's character meet and greets and celebrity appearances - if you have a specific interest in any of our events then we could arrange times and dates of your meeting to coincide.

Initially we would like to gain an understanding of the level of interest in this type of booking system from any groups in the area, then, depending on the appetite, we would set up an appropriate system to facilitate all your requirements and get in touch with interested parties to book you in. For more information on venues that we have in the centre, then visit our website.

Please let us know if you would be interested in the above, or if you would like to know more about what we could offer, either by e-mail to Zoe, or by telephone on 01332 366383 by Friday 8 May
Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
