Format Festival
The photography festival is still on, so why not visit some of the exhibits?
We particularly enjoyed the Location exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery, where the artists had photographed US locations from famous 70s films, such as Star Wars, Easy Rider and many more.

BBC Children in Need
BBC Children in Need logoBBC Children in Need specialises in funding projects which help disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 and under in the UK.  This disadvantage could include illness, disability, poverty, distress, neglect, or behavioural and psychological difficulties. We look to fund projects which change the lives of children and young people for the better. For more information on which projects are eligible, see our website bbc.co.uk/Pudsey.

BBC Children in Need now operates four deadlines a year with a three month turnaround on decisions. The next grant round deadline is the 15th April 2009, and all applications are to be made online at bbc.co.uk/Pudsey. We would strongly advise applicants to apply in advance of the deadline, and double check that all necessary documents are submitted.

This year we are particularly trying to encourage more applications for small grants (under £10,000), as we know these grants can often have a huge impact on children's lives, and it also enables the money our fundraisers have been busy raising to stretch as far as possible.

For support in applying, please see our website, or contact Kathryn Kendall, or our helpdesk on 020 8576 7788 to check eligibility.
New LGB&T Network!
The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Community Network will meet for the first time at St Peter's House, Gower Street between 6.15 and 8.00 pm on Tuesday 24 March 2009.

We want to enable the LGB&T community to meet, bringing individuals, community groups and organisations, and businesses together.  Discussion topics include:

- Responding to the needs of our community;
- Funding for the voluntary sector, as well as businesses,
- Bringing organisations together, from the Police, to the NHS, to the Council,
- Supporting events, such as Derby Goes Pink and others,
- Offering support to existing and new groups, especially to our Trans colleagues, youth groups and our businesses,

If you would like more information, or be part of the network, contact Toni or Melvyn.

Together we can make a difference!
Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
