Dear Member

Welcome to issue 17
Community Conference Bun
Derby CVS Community Conference

What a fantastic conference!  Record numbers of people attended Derby CVS's Community Conference and AGM on Thursday this week.

Thank you to the speakers, who provided an excellent mix of information and entertainment:
  • Garry Bryant, Government Office East Midlands,
  • Lisa Farnsworth, Derbyshire Community Foundation,
  • Janet Holland, Derwent Stepping Stones, and
  • Graham Bennet, Catch the Vision.
We'd like to recommend the Riverside Conference Centre as a venue.  The facilities are excellent and you couldn't meet nicer staff.

We'll tell you more about our new Board next week!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.
Message in a bottle container
Message in a Bottle
The Lions Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the fridge.

This can help medical professionals visiting your house find emergency information quickly and treat you accordingly.

Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident at home, so this scheme can benefit anyone, including you.

Derby CVS has hundreds of these containers to give away.  For more information, please contact us!

Be a Spaceshaper!
Spaceshaper is a practical toolkit for use by anyone - whether a local community group or a professional - to measure the quality of a public space before investing time and money in improving it.

Taster sessions explain how Spaceshaper works, including the opportunity for participants to use the toolkit for themselves in a local public space. If you are interested in becoming a Spaceshaper facilitator you will need to attend a taster session first.
We are holding free taster sessions in Derby on Tuesday 18 November 2008
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.  Find out more and sign up by clicking here.
